Edward

Edward does grow up from an "asshat", as he is called by his equally asshat-ish friend Renzo, into a son and carer and a caring human being, too sad that the world around him is full of danger and an awful display of humanity, which we discover alongside him.

It's sweet how much of the change is triggered by Agnes and him spending time with her and her making him change and show up for his distant father. And he changes and shows up for him and for her till the very end. There's gonna be some sadness and some tears. It's a slow-moving transformation and I couldn't tell where it was going for a while, which is funny as it's a very short movie.

Filipino hospitals are scarily underfunded and overcrowded. I genuinely feared for some of these people seeing them live in this ecosystem for weeks, Edward included. Pretty sure the movie goes easy on us as it is, and there is a fair amount of heartbreak.
