Love Aaj Kal Porshu

Pushes Bengali film to new heights. Really brave film that combines a mainstream romance with a futristic medical thriller zone. Paoli Dam is extraordinary as Kalki Maitra. The new girl is also good. Arjun is a little stiff at places. The two songs are nice but Rabindrasangeet not arranged well.

I never expected that there is a genre of Psychological Romantic Drama but this movie was truely a game changer. First of all hats off to Pratim D. Gupta for the whole concept of this movie. Secondly ofcourse his unique style of describing the narrative which is really really awesome may it be Ahare Mon, Saheb Bibi Ar Golam, Mach Mishti & More or this movie. Thirdly, the performances were exceptional playing four different characters in one single frame is matter of real headache but this duo Arjun and Madhumita did an appreciable job. The ensemble cast too was good but the show stealler was Paoli Dam in grey shade. I personally loved this new genre of Bangla Cinema and would highly highly recommend it, do give it a watch not for me but for this much much underrated director Pratim D. Gupta.

This film was an absolute delight to watch! From storyline to acting everything was on point!

STORY & SCREENPLAY : By far the best romantic thriller I have ever watched. The story delves into various levels of love. This is not a normal Love Story! Kudos to the writer!

ACTING : Madhumita, Arjun and Paoli never disappoint you! Madhumita being the debutant presented the best of her capabilities through her very first film. Arjun and Paoli were as usual amazing on their part.

CINEMATOGRAPHY : The film sets your mood with its wonderful cinematography. A lovely experience indeed.

DIRECTOR : Pratim does a great job as a director! Its a kind of film where you can not predict.

NEGATIVE -

CLIMAX (NOT COMPLETELY NEGATIVE) : So the climax was very fine BUT could've been better. It was quite an obvious climax. However again the climax had the power to leave you thinking about the movie forever. What if.... How... Why.... Whatever.... Yup these are the questions that will give thousands of answers. And that's the uniqueness of the film!

The film shows different facets of love very cleverly by putting it in a thriller format. There is physical love and platonic love and of course, love for the ages. A true romantic like me loved the love story of the film. The thriller part is good in the second half but it is the love story that really carries the film forward. Want to watch it again for Arjun and Madumita.

The film starts off as a love story and then gradually steers towards a suspense thriller keeping you engaged and enthralled every moment of the movie. Shades of The Truman Show and Westworld don't take away the brilliance of the film which looks at love through the lens of society and what is today's definition of entertainment. The performances are natural and the movie has been photographed beautifully. Felt proud as a Bengali watching this new age romantic thriller. Much recommended also for those who don't know the language.
