Avis à la une
For a self funded film this production took no shortcuts. As a general rule I am pretty skeptical of Indie Horror Flicks, but unlike most, Buzz Cut didn't phone it in. The actors were engaged, rarely did the performances come across as amateurish. The practical effects were, notably, spot on. Granted, the premise of the movie being centered around The Hash House Harriers will be hard for people that aren't involved with that subculture to fully appreciate; but the movie captures "hasher culture" pretty dang well (even some of the not so great aspects). It's difficult to walk the line between horror and comedy but this film achieves it.
A creatively fun introduction to the Hash House Harrier culture! The attention to craft demonstrated by the creators as well as the cast demonstrates a love for hashing and movies that is sorely lacking in most of B movies that have cum (dumped) out over the pandemic years.
This movie has brilliantly combined horror, comedy, and the Hash House Harrier culture! The attention to craft demonstrated by the creators as well as the cast demonstrates a love for the art missing from so many other films.
Wow! This was way better than it had any right to be. This scratched that B-Movie Slasher flick itch better than pretty much any big studio film. Love the practical effects!! Now I just need to figure out where to get a GORB t-shirt... On-On!!
Assuming you like independent slasher movies, this is largely a must watch. It doesn't break new ground* but it tells the standard slasher movie with an amount of humor that tilts it toward Tucker and Dale Vs Evil and away from the screaming girls getting slashed for being horny.
The production value is what sets this one apart. The makers spared no expense, there is nothing about the film that seems cheap. The over the top murder scene dummies are comically silly in a way that fits the theme rather than the genre.
*I am a hasher, Catcher in the Eye from Vulcan H3 for any hasher reading this. The reason I did not rate it as highly as other hashers who reviewed this is due to the portrail. They showed the kennel as either disconnected, singularly focused on sex, or just outright cruel. If the movie had been my intro to hashing, I likely would not have joined. Every kennel is different, though, so I can't fault them too much. On-on, and On-Out.
