This show isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it's a fun show for kids and families. Also, yes, I'm back after my hiatus from this site. I'll try to get more reviews out, I swear.
Anyways, this show involves a bunch of weird mushroom people called The Fungies, who live in a prehistoric setting. Our hero is Seth, a kid who loves science. The show documents the wacky, slice of life misadventures he and his friends get into.
The show reminds me of the 1980s, and I mean that in the best way possible. It's not that it's toy-driven or that the animation is cheap (quite the opposite, in fact), but it reminds me of those "creature" shows like Fraggle Rock and The Smurfs. The music also reminds me of the 80s synthpop music, and the songs woven throughout the episodes are quite catchy and nice to listen to. Special mention goes to the theme song.
The show feels like a big warm hug with its positive, upbeat tone. The animation and art style aren't slacking either. The character designs are simple, yet creative. The animation is fluid, especially in the theme song. And the episode title cards are creative, they remind me of the ones used in Clarence.
The pacing and voice acting could use work, but overall it's a fun little show to watch if you're feeling down.

I was almost turned away by this shows unique sense of how the characters react towards each other, but then it became endearing. This is a very lovable show with well-thought-out plots of basic scientific research. I know that sounds a little complicated, but the show makes it so simple. It follows a town of Mushroom-like characters, specifically the main character Seth, who is constantly exploring and finding better ways to educate himself and his peers in their little prehistoric town. What I love most is that, while everyone in the town is comfortable, clueless, and can care less honestly about the outside world/mind, there's Seth, an optimistic kid who puts scenarios into logic and colorfully explains everything perfectly. I know kids will get this and I believe it is next level for them. I just can't wait for the action figure collectables to come out.
If I had a child I would have no problem with them watching this show. Its fun, creative and generally pretty wholesome. While its themes were done a million times before, it still manages to be fun in its own way. An adult won't have too bad of a time watching, though it is aimed towards a younger audience.
My kids love this! It's funny and sweet, promotes kindness and inquisition.
