As a guy born in the eighties, I couldn't relate to the jokes

Maybe I'm too stupid for this show, but I couldn't tell when she was serious, and when she was joking.

Eventually I got bored and turned it off, when about 15 minutes remained of the program.

She sure seem to have had some horrible experiences with men. But it was just sad, the funny twists and punchline was rarely delivered, which made it feel like a life story rather than a stand-up show. Bad writing maybe, or maybe I just don't find it funny how bad some men apparantly act.

    For Fans Only

If you're a fan of her you'll probably enjoy it, most people won't though. Filled with gender generalisations and lots of complaints hidden behind a comics smile the show was a boring mess packed with lazy jokes and overused topics.

Overall it's better than her previous works, she doesn't solely rely on bashing on men, but it still lacks the storytelling ability to make it relatable and enjoyable.

    Funny and relevant

I've never been a big fan of Whitney, but I found this special to be very entertaining and relevant. She really takes it up to an eleven with this show! I now look forward to her future projects!

    I enjoyed it...in parts

All I've known about Whitney Cummings was her involvement in that atrocious "2 Broke Girls" show, where virtually every single joke was set up in the most torturous, unnatural way and delivered a punchline that wasn't even remotely worth the terrible writing necessary to set it up. But her name caught my eye on Netflix, so I decided to check out what her standup was like.

On the whole, it was much more natural than her comic writing in the scripted comedy. It flowed fairly well, and was actually pretty funny sometimes. I had no real complaints about her standup, and while the whole men and women, women and men, ain't it funny? sort of comedy isn't exactly blazing new comic trails, I enjoyed it. As a guy, I found it funny even if I didn't necessarily relate to a large chunk of it because my life experiences haven't been the same. being able to find universal strands of humor is really what comedy should aspire too, after all. My only problem was that after 20 minutes or so, I was just desperately looking for some variety of topic and theme. So I turned it off and came back the next day. I lasted another 20 minutes before deciding to take a break and finish it the next day. Even though, as I said, I generally enjoyed her comedy and found her reasonably funny, it's not really a good thing that someone needs three days to get through an hour-long special.

I'll check out some of her other stuff when I get a chance, just to see if the narrow scope of her comedy routine is typical or just a fluke.

    Great!

A well done stand-up that touches on some modern issues in a unique and thoughful way. The sex robot thing was hilarious. Very clever to do that, made it fascinating and hilarious at the end.

I just wanna add that I've seen some other stand up's recent that touch on these modern gender issues and go way too far one way or the other but Whitney managed to make it seem pretty even, giving both sides of the issues an even amount of love and hate so that it didn't feel like she has picking on anyone.

Just wanna point out though, it would probably be a lot less acceptable if a male comic rubbed a female audience members hair and joked about her climaxing because of it. That was the one brief thing that bugged me but only because the topic was how to avoid sexual harassment and how men shouldn't touch women casually thinking its ok so that bit was definitely at odds with some of the message before it, but only a minor issues all and all.
