Avis à la une
MILD SPOILERS - mentions things that would have completely unimportant in most films, but as there is not much of a plot, here some might consider them spoilers.
I saw a bunch of really good reviews on Amazon so I had to give it a try. I love quirky comedies (ie: Tucker and Dale vs Evil) but this movie is just plain dumb and boring.
One reviewer described it as "family friendly". Really? He must have had some interesting parents. The F-word is used 5 times in the first MINUTE and many more times after. There are jokes and similar low-class gags.
There are numerous repetitive scenes of three losers sitting in a strip club, doing nothing of interest except demonstrating how they didn't get their money's worth from acting class..
The first 50% of the movie is Joe teaching "Blaire" the words for different items and a running, tedious, gag about her fondness for Red Bull.
Very low budget. There is almost no score, and every shot is static which makes for a very flat experience. The scenes with a score came close to professional - the rest felt like a home movie with good cameras. Many of the scenes are slow, depressed, and drag. The actors do not appear to be enjoying themselves most of the time. Acting: not consistent, but good enough (with a couple of exceptions).
A really anti-climactic ending that reflects the overall morose and boring tone of the whole movie.
The actresses are cute and the main character is a likable goof, but that's not enough to sustain a movie. The script is abysmal and barely tweaks the laugh meter. I really wanted it to be "fun", but unless you watch it while drunk or stoned, it's really not very funny or interesting.
I'm going to mark this review as containing spoilers, but it's a pretty sad indictment of the movie when a Red Bull gag is the most significant part of the story. I applaud the effort, but it didn't cut it. A very long 72 minutes that could have been cut in half.
It just ended and my wife's first comment is: "Can we watch something good now?"

This could have a heck of a lot worse and much, much better too.
Everything about it screams that the whole things needs tightening.
Script, acting, casting, plotting, everything.
This could have a really good movie but it just misses the mark slightly in every respect.
Cries out to be remade in some form with a little more of everything thrown in.
The plot is really simple and hilarious - definitely, NOT slapstick. I liked the way the storyline flows very casually and without unnecessary sci-fiction - definitely NO special effects. The acting is not the best, but it does not take away from the entertainment for the general public. You should watch this movie, if you simply want to relax and have a laugh without giving too much thought to cinematic techniques.
I enjoyed this low-budget flick. The acting was not that good, but it had a nice story line. And the reality is that it was fun to watch. Nicely done.
