I can't imagine what it would be to lose my hearing, but for a musician it must be the worst. Monica Young brilliantly lets us into her world as her hearing is disappearing. The acting of Young and her companion actress Andrea Bogart are very believable. The way they look at each other gaze me goose bumps. I mean its hard to see desire in a face but it sure is there. In the end I felt that they were a real couple. Other people in the movie were also excellent. Jetta Martin as the spurned former lover of Abigail was terrific. I loved the "talk" manager hard with Samantha. Made me think a lot about how people accept loss. I hope everyone sees this beautiful movie.

Okay. I'll admit it. I have a crush on Andrea Bogart so I just had to watch this movie. I was definitely not disappointed. She glows and between she and now my new favorite Monica Young, I loved them both. It's a wonderful story and much more engaging than I expected. My heart went out to Samantha. To be a musician and face deafness is hard to imagine. Monica nailed it in showing us how angry and sad she is. Then comes Abigail who brings love and support. I really loved this film and will watch it many times. Not just to see the ladies, but to also be reminded about the wonderful story and the message.
I could go on and on about this wonderful and gently told story but I want to tell you all that you will love every character in this movie. The lead actresses are beautiful and perfect as Samantha and Abigail. I thought the woman who played Dr. Christopher was excellent. Again very believable in every way. The actor who plays Jack the Empire Club manager is cast well. From his love and caring of Samantha to his sort of believable relationship with Samantha's manager, John Hale stood out. I don't know if the trio is real musicians or not, but I believed them too. Much has been said about the score. I agree with everyone. It's spectacular. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

I watched the film for the story and it's a tender, heart wrenching story. I watched it again for the music. This has the most beautiful score I've heard in a film in a long time. Samantha conveys so much emotion in her expressions and body language. And Abigail does the same as though the two lovers have their own language that they won't share with us. When Samantha says that they are an "us" I feel the bond they are making. The story brought a few tears as Samantha deals with a coming loss. But I believed it all. Many thanks to writer and director Jan Corran for bringing us what will surely be the number one lgbtq film of the year. Oh and it is gorgeous to watch.
I have found my new favorite film couple. Monica Young and Andrea Bogart lovingly bring Samantha and Abigail to life. Both actresses make their characters real and beautiful. The story is sad in the beginning but ends on a note of hope. The music is gorgeous. I watched a couple times for the couple but also to hear the music. Finding out that it was Young who wrote and sings a song in the film was an added treat. The entire cast is terrific. I also loved the cinematography. Some magical moments were displayed and the lighting on a couple of them was romantic and sexy. One of the best lesbian films I've ever seen.

The leading actors are pitting their best efforts against uninspired direction and average performances by the rest of the cast.
The story is somewhat original and the journey that the protagonist endures is believable. Yet the writing feels superficial, as if trying to extract pathos without substance, just for the sake of extracting pathos. Nonetheless, the two leads deliver professional performances that manage to engagingly carry the story.
Why, oh why though, does the writer attempt to compare Samantha's condition to that of Stevie Wonder? The challenges faced by deaf musicians are totally different from the challenges of blindness. Why didn't talented deaf composers and/or musicians like Ludwig v Beethoven or Evelyn Glennie get a single mention; at any point during the tale?
Regardless, 'Concerto for Abigail' is a watchable film. It may have been lifted out of the mediocre had it had a larger budget.

I can't decide what part of Concerto for Abigail is my favorite. The story captured me and took me along for this beautiful ride. The music is over the top wonderful. To find out that Monica Young who plays Samantha wrote this one song in it and sings it was like that frosting on a cake. And as an actress, Monica is amazing. I've got that single tear imbedded in my brain. Andrea Bogart is just the most perfect actress to bring Abigail alive. I mean these two together gently sizzle. I do mean gently because the story is gently told. Whoever the cinematographer is he or she did a masterful job. Only thing I'd complain about is that I wanted more.
I thoroughly enjoyed Concerto for Abigail. Jan Miller Corran has once again brought us a touching story of love and awakening. I've known relatives who have gone completely deaf. The reactions of Samantha helped me understand how devastating this loss must be. Andrea Bogart plays Abigail. She can rescue me any time. Both of the lead actresses are perfect as a couple. Good casting. I did like all of the characters too. I thought Sean and Clara as part of the trio were adorable. Very good acting. The woman who played Susan, Abigail's girlfriend, is terrific. She is obviously still in love. See it. It's great.

I rarely give a film ten stars but I honestly found nothing wrong and everything right with this movie. The story is touching and the writer handles it beautifully. The lead actresses are very believable. I don't know if they are gay in real life but if not, they convinced me that they are women who like women. Some of the supporting actors were excellent. I thought the members of the trio were wonderfully played. If they were faking it, it didn't show. The manager was annoying but it works well. Her over protection shows. I can't say enough nice things about Monica Young as Samantha and Andrea Bogart as Abigail. Their love builds in a stunning way. It's a beautiful film.

After watching Concerto for Abigail on the theater screen at a festival and then buying it when it was released I just can't stop telling people what a good movie it is. The actress who plays the pianist is amazing. You can't help but fall in love with her and that is exactly what Abigail does. It's rare to find two actresses that make a perfect couple on screen. These two do. I loved the music a lot. I've played the concerto over and over. I thought the actress who played the manager was annoying and since she is supposed to be that way, she did a great job. I loved the guy who played Jack. It's such a good movie and I hope people watch it many times. It gets better with each viewing.

It's such a joy to find two actresses who are able to convince me that they are a real couple and really falling in love. Not just jumping into bed on the first date. Monica Young is a sparkling jewel. Beautiful to look at and so talented beyond what I expected. She sings and composes and plays the piano as well as acting so well. I love Andrea Bogart as her lover and friend as they come together to face a loss. Not crazy about the actress who played the manager but it didn't distract from an overall brilliant story and lovely film. The music is amazing so thank you to the composer. I hope everyone watches Concerto.

I was very fortunate to see this film on the big screen at a special screening this week. As the audience stood to cheer when the film ended I found myself a bit tearful. I love this film. The story moves quickly and there really are two stories being told. The film is filmed so well that scenes take your breath away. And I can't say enough about the score. Plus lead actress Monica Young has a song she wrote and sings in the film. It's a beauty. So many lesbian films are the same. This one stands way above the rest. Andrea Bogart and Monica Young are perfect as Abigail and Samantha. I loved watching them fall in love. See this. It will make your heart sing.

There are so many memorable lines throughout this movie but I love when Samantha tells Abigail that our we is an us. I researched this a bit and from a language usage sense, this is brilliant. To be an us is what we should all strive to be. This is one of the most touching stories I've ever watched. And all of the cast added to it. The manager was annoying but maybe that is how a manager who loves their client too much would act. Jack the club manager enlightened me when he discussed Stevie Wonder. I can't believe I never thought of all he said. The actresses who portrayed Samantha and Abigail were amazing...are amazing. I could go on and on. Watch it.

As a person who began going deaf in my teens, I was curious to see how someone who isn't deaf could write about it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the writer, the director and the actor who played Samantha seemed to understand hearing loss very well. Samantha does show us what it feels like but specifically how a person feels. I could relate. Abigail is the perfect fan to come into Sam's life. Both actresses are lovely to look at and truly believable as lovers. Abigail brings hope and joy into Samanth'as world as it begins to spiral downward. This is a hopeful movie with a good story. I hardly heard he music, but turned up loudly, it was a beautiful concerto. Really enjoyed this movie.

Definitely open a bottle of your best champagne. Then curl up on the sofa or your cushy bed with someone you love. This is one film that just may make you fall in love all over again. I know I did. Monica Young and Andrea Bogart are superb actresses. I believed in them as a couple and was only sorry that there wasn't a longer movie so I could watch them interact more. I was especially moved by the lighting used in different scenes. The bedroom one was luscious. Both women couldn't have looked more beautiful. The scene in the end is amazing. The music is powerful and the look on Samantha's face is priceless. Thank you for making this beautiful movie.

Concerto for Abigail is one of those movies that you wish would never end. It's a master class on how to fall in love. Attraction to desire to love and deep friendship. Wouldn't we all like to have this? Monica Young and Andrea Bogart are this lovely couple. Beautiful women and beautiful acting jobs. Watching them interact was like magic. Hats off to the cinematographer. It is so well shot and those last scenes are gorgeous. I loved the music. Multi-talented Monica Young wrote and sings the most touching song in the movie. She can do it all folks. OK. I would have liked more kissing and sex, but that's just me. Watch it.

When Samantha looks at Abigail and says that she knows all she needs to know, I was hooked. First time in a long time that the chemistry between two leads was almost leaping off the screen. The acting is believable. I almost felt like I was a voyeur into their space. The story centers on the loss of hearing that Samantha is preparing for. She pulls Abigail in to help her cope but then pushes her out. In the end all is good but you need to see how these two women got there. The music is outstanding. Each note compliments each scene perfectly. Hard to do but the composer did it. I highly recommend adding Concerto to your list of films to see.

Concerto for Abigail is now my new favorite lesbian movie so far. I watched it in 2024 and again today. The writing is top notch. It is very real. No ridiculous drama. The main characters are outstanding and I believed in them as a couple. I'm not surprised the movie has won many awards. It's such a beautiful love story as it addresses what loss is soon coming. The look of the movie is gorgeous. It is filmed well and my only complaint would be that it ended too soon. I wanted so much more of the developing love story but maybe we will get Concerto for Abigail part 2. Oh and no one dies! People always hope no one dies.

There are many funny moments in this film and then you will shed a few tears. This is because the story is true to life when a medical disaster begins to unfold. Monica Young is Samantha Porter, a well known and highly successful pianist who mainly plays jazz. I was not a jazz fan, but I am now. The score for this film is magnificent. I don't know if the actress actually plays the piano. If not, she faked it very well. Her savior is Abigail. Beautiful, sexy, warm and enticing Abigail. Hats off to whoever cast these two because they are believable and real. Run don't walk to watch Concerto for Abigail.

The truly gifted writer, Jan Miller Corran, brings yet another powerful & touching story to us. Beautiful cinematography reigns. Powerful and pleasing performances shine. I cannot rave enough about a story that can make us think about being kind to one another with our interactions. Relationships can have their ups & downs, but toss in trauma & how one deals with medical issues & hopes that a partner can show kindness & be there. A story to make you think & relate is a story worth praising & sharing. Bravo to the team!! Do not think twice to watch & share this film with a friend/partner/all. Enjoy!

When a film is billed as a gay film (lesbian) you expect only lesbians to watch it and like it. Not so with Concerto for Abigail. I think this is because it's a great story. The characters aren't leaving husbands or having "the big coming out". These are two women who have lived their lives secure in their sexuality and who they are. Luckily Abigail walked into Samantha's life because Samantha needs her for many reasons. Their relationship becomes what we hope all relationships become. As Samantha faces a devastating change in her life son to come, Abigail provides the support she needs. My husband loved this film as much as I.

We Londoners are always happy to view a new and lovely lesbian film. Concerto for Abigail is definitely just that. It is touching and sad that Samantha is losing her ability to hear the music. Music is her life. Of all the people she could meet in her jazz club she meets the gorgeous and super sexy Abigail. I love how their relationship developed. We should all have such love in our lives. The music throughout the entire film is beautiful. When I finally heard the actual concerto I was moved to tears. This story, the characters and the love shown will stay with me for a very long time. Spot on film.

Many thanks to writer and director Jan Miller Corran for bringing us a story about what it would be like to suddenly be losing your ability to hear and your life and career ae music. This isn't a new topic. Corran tells it not from devastating anger but from depressing loss that will be withstood thanks to the woman who enters Samantha's life. On the surface this seems like a simple movie. It isn't. It left me thinking about loss, support, love and caring that comes in many shapes. This is definitely a movie to watch many times. Each time I discovered something new. The music is memorable. The acting top notch.

There I said it. I did not want this movie to end. I was thoroughly engaged in watching Samantha lose her hearing. Portraying that must be difficult but actress Monica Young had me believe it. Then this absolutely super fan named Abigail enters her life. The movie is two stories. The first one is about what it would be like to lose your hearing. The second one is about watching two people beautifully and gently fall in love. Samantha and Abigail are matched perfectly. I just have to say that it was a pleasure to watch two beautiful women who can act play the lead roles. I liked the trio too. They were also believable as Samantha's bass and clarinetist. I loved it. Sequel please.

It was very easy to get lost in the love affair between Samantha and Abigail. Two smart, talented, gorgeous women who happen to come together over the love of jazz. But life isn't going to be that simple because Samantha is losing her hearing. This is devastating for a person whose career and life revolve around playing the piano and composing. And not in a small way. She travels the world playing with symphonies. Abigail arrives just at the right time. This isn't a smooth ride but the story is told with skill. Hats off to writer and director Jan Corran who brought us SNAPSHOTS and ALONG CAME WANDA and others. I must say that CONCERTO FOR ABIGAIL has just become my favorite of her films. Keep telling our stories.
