This show is pretty sad to say the least. This is what America has come to.
It seems as though they're running out of ideas. I really hate to think that this is the image we portray to the outside world: spoiled materialistic, fake, silicone-based people whose only contribution to society is causing more melanoma and the popping of brain cells.
How can anyone watch this garbage? beats me, but like most "reality" shows it's known to be addicting even if it is meaningless, probably because people are so bored with their own lives that they feel the need to watch someone else's so-called life that is most likely script.

This might be the absolute low point of all reality shows - including Big Brother and the Playboy mansion. Two uninteresting people (who are seldomly seen) start a series of tanning shops. The series revolve mostly around employees who bicker, fight and gossip their petty jobs away.
Pity the employees don't wear name tags as they are rather indistinguishable from each other. The best way to handle this show would be to absolutely ignore it: any publicity (including this review) would be too much. You could watch it, but watching grass grow or paint dry would be much more interesting.
Anyway, you have been duly warned.

As the previous reviewers have mentioned, this show is an embarrassment to the USA. I'm American, but have lived in enough other countries to know their opinions of us "yanks". This show will do NOTHING but validate those judgements! This show is so completely pointless. I don't understand how something that is so degrading to humans in general could be kept on the air. And how can a mother drag her 7 year old to a tanning salon (against her will) to get a tan for a school picture?? Don't even get me started on the Olly girls, a complete waste of the Earth's oxygen, two girls resembling oompa loompas who are DESPERATE for attention. I can't possibly believe that they are actually as stupid as they act, I'm sure it's all for show, which is even more pathetic. I wanted to move to L.A. before I saw this show, and now I'm thinking more and more that I should move to NY...
Here's my view on the show...I'll have to agree with lots of people, it is full of orange-tanned, bleached out, fake looking people with lots of drama. But, not to stay that makes it horrible. The first time I watched this show, I was thinking wow...way too much drama. But somehow I kept watching it, wanting to see what happens next (I'm sure that's what gets lots of people sucked into reality shows). I hate to admit it, but I'm amused to watch what stupid things the Olly girls do, who gets fired, who cheats on who, etc. And I watch to see who I will hate in each episode. Plus, I love the LA beach scene (which is what made me watch it in the first place).
Bottom line, this show isn't one of TV's finest...but it's very amusing and it keeps me watching, not because it's a good show but because the drama can become addictive. And for all the people saying "what has TV come to", and these people need to literally die (just a little harsh), nobody's forcing you to watch it. And if everybody had the same opinion as you, then they wouldn't even have it on.

Depicts everything that is wrong with Los Angeles: The self-marketing, self-celebrity. The superficiality. The materialism. The excess. The substance-less stupidity. If I was a terrorist and got cable, my next target would be LA, not NY after seeing this show. This is without a doubt the absolute worst America has to offer. Borat's depiction of the Midwest makes us look downright sane in comparison
and that was comedy. In contrast, this is an attempt at showing a "serious business" and the inside life of the valley. The producers apparently are from the area and don't find any of it strange, ironic, or disturbingly fascinating. It's done just like the tattoo show; very matter-of-fact and like it's something to strive for. For the love of God, the salesman talked this one bitch into putting her fair-skinned, true-blond 7 yr old in a tanning bed at the cost $1200 for her school picture. And keep in mind, I lived for over seven years in Las Vegas, so I am not unaccustomed to flashy lights or the big city. I feel ill after watching this, and I don't even have a problem with spray-on tanning or tans in general! Siiiick. I'm going to give it 5 instead of a 1 because it is educational on why people constantly bash LA so much: Guess what, they're justified.
