Disgustingly Sick

I believe judging this movie without knowing the whole Russian history since 1917 would be very hard. Obviously people of soviet union have suffered alot through communism and 2 world wars. I have spent 14 years living in one of the Provence and still don't get the message, However this brutal culture is very familiar to me. Over there Life is not a celebration at all.

I have no idea

I don't know what to think of this film. It was so filthy, pointless, cheaply done, and boring. Yet the acting was powerful and it still hit me hard at some scenes. It's a weird one for sure.

Total exhaustion

Foreigners can not fully understand the whole thrash which is happening. You need to be a member of contemporary russian society. It's a bright example of "great russian culture" and russian mentality. It is mentioned that this film critics problems in military community and armed invasion into Afganistan. But it does not justify all the disgust and sodomy that occurs throughout the movie. And all of this is followed by unprofessional filming. I don't give the lowest score just out of pity for actors who have sacrificed a lot and risked their reputation.

My God, it's just a 10/10!

The Green Elephant is a film about human freedom, a cornerstone of its value and invaluable to the individual. Also, dedicated to the highest human qualities: courage, honor, selflessness and male friendship. Movies about possible metamorphoses of human nature in a closed space, total humiliation and hopelessness and just awesome allegory on the Russian army by Svetlana Baskova.

Definitely one of the best Russian movie ever. Want to get unforgettable impression from entertaining dialogs and preposterous picture? Just do it! Anyway, this film doesn't leave anyone indifferent.

The Art of Disgust

Very realistic and vivid, an art but the movie is too extreme and disgusting. Not recommended to watch.

I feel sick of this movie, it has potential but is too extreme.

The movie has some pretty sensitive words and scenes that are more disgusting than the word disgusting.

Not recommended this movie..

A masterpiece.

A hearth-warming story about friendship and the hardships of making new friends in unfriendly places. An improvised and minimalistic narrative and scenario will tell us about stuff such as hard work, regrets, life experiences, different points of view, duty, honor and consequences of your actions.

The great finale only is worth your time to watch this modern masterpiece, made for you by a savant prodigy of cinematographic arts, Svetlana Baskova. This movie is more than just a motion picture on your screen...

Green Elephant is love. Green Elephant is life.

intimate and disturbing

The Green Elephant is minimalist in terms of plot, but makes up for it in the strength of its performances. The whole film is an intimate snap shot into the depravity experienced by the main characters, and serves as a small scale character study. The lack of structure, although frustrating from a narrative stand point, serves to add to the nightmarish quality of the film. At times it feels like a found footage film, due to the rough, hand held camera work which gives the film a feeling of realism. Over all this film is worth a watch to anyone who is a fan of independent film.

The deepest feel-good comedy I have ever seen

This film is a source of everlasting joy and heartwarming sense for me. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by life, you can turn to this masterpiece for the wisdom within. Follow the development of a beautiful friendship between Bratishka and Poekhavshiy, whose love-hate relationship is fully developed in a short span of 90 minutes. Highly recommmend.

I cannot believe my eyes. this is the most beautiful film of the last millennium

You must watch this now and with no hesitation.

I cannot express how heart warmed and touched I was after witnessing such a visual piece of perfection. This footage defines unparalleled euphoria. It is the best moment in my contrasted, dull life so far, I have never experienced such beauty before. I am another man after this life changing event, my self is transcended into a state of utter joyful frenzy. All delightful emotions are elated into permanent phase of constant pleasure. Nothing can compare to what this film provides to the bodily senses and imaginative capacity it expands within the blessed soul.

If I could give this more than perfect, I would rate it as infinite. I invite you to watch this film, you too will witness heaven and beyond.

Is that you, the Ukraine?

Despite all the disgustingness of the key scenes of this film and the gradual immersion into absurdity and madness of both the characters and the script itself, this meaning of this film is much deeper than it might seem to an unprepared viewer.

The basic story is quite simple, the first half of the film shows us two Russian officers who were sent to the guardhouse for some offenses, who gradually go crazy. I will not write spoilers, but in general the development of the plot is a very good allusion to a sick society plunging into madness and mass insanity.

I would even call this film prophetic. I know that it was filmed under the impression of the chaos and collapse that Russia found itself in after the collapse of the USSR in the 1990s, but how accurately it describes the events that have happened in the last decade in the Ukraine! It's hard for me to even imagine what film would better describe the complex system of relationships between society, power, officials and army, to which the main characters act as an allegories. In this interpretation, it's simply brilliant.
