Easily one of the best anime's Netflix has put out, you can definitely tell this was a well funded project. A large majority of Netflix's anime series lose my interest with a couple of episodes, but this kept me captivated throughout the series. The action scenes are amazing and the amount of gore brought me back to 80's anime vibes. If you are a fan any shonen jump, this is definitely on par with them. I really hope Netflix continues this series because they put out so many forgettable series just for content and this is actually one that they put the effort and funds into. Honestly it's probably my favorite on Netflix.
Well, for starters, I should point out that the animation and design are great, that's not always the case in anime.
Appart from that, the pitch is quite interesting: an agency in charge of recovering and ensuring that ancient artifacts and tech are in good hands/harmless.
Unfortunately, the show is very procedural and there's a real issue with the characters that lack personality, and there's something wrong with consistency and storyline development. There's no main plot, no main villains nor links between the episodes. You could watch the episodes in any order, that wouldn't really matter. The last episode is kind of the same as the first one, no plot development, no season 2 tease.
I suspect that Netflix made this anime for the fans who already know the story, but didn't really care about anything else.... Money, money money!

A series that plays it safe, hits and more hits.
Adaptation of the manga by Hiroshi Takashige and drawn by Ryoji Minagawa that had a very good one previously as was the 1998 movie.
The truth is that I liked it quite a bit. It is an anime in a somewhat strange format because there are 6 self-contained episodes of approximately 45 minutes.
Except in chapter 5 where the animation noticeably falters, the truth is that it stands out in that area. Far above conventional anime. Fantastic fights with a very catchy soundtrack that goes along with it.
As for the plot, nothing out of the ordinary, companies from countries fighting for relics of an ancient civilization and doing whatever it takes for them.
Very visual, gore at times, it does not skimp on blood and violence which adds to it instead of subtracting.
The season ends very openly and there are no announcements about a second one.
Therefore it is recommended but that's all, let's hope for news.

Never saw the original movie. I'm enjoying the plot with the ancient civilization tech narrative. Voice acting and sound design are well produced. Action sequences are exciting. I'll continue watching and hope for a second season.
Never heard of the original manga or the movie, I saw this is in my spotlight so I decided to check it out and It's actually pretty good. It's a little predictable at times and sometimes I wish the characters weren't giving speeches every 10 mins, but the plot is interesting, animation is good, voice acting is amazing and I like the soundtrack. Also, It's deals with a lot of themes and philosophies in each episode, which I think is one of the more interesting parts of the series.
You should check it out.
