It's been over an hour, and nothing has happened. I had to speed it up to 2x. The pacing is unbearably slow, making it hard to stay engaged. The screen is constantly filled with abstract, artsy blocks of text that seem designed to add depth but don't actually contribute to the story. There's no suspense, no scares, and nothing that would make this feel like a true horror movie. Instead, it comes across as dull and pretentious, trying too hard to be artistic while forgetting to entertain. I wouldn't call this horror at all, and it's definitely not worth the time. I'd suggest skipping it since it's too boring.

The only thing scary was how bored I was. It was like it was trying to be scary, artsy, and everything else all at once and it positively crashed and burned. Full disclosure after sitting through 50 minutes I fast forwarded to the end. You can tell the main actress really tried but the poor writing and direction of the whole film really tore it all down. Normally you can laugh at B-rated horror movies but it was so dull you couldn't even do that. The filming styles also constantly changed same with the voices somehow. Some points absolutely made no sense as to why they were in the film in the first place. Just...save yourself the time and pass on it.
Of course I had never heard about this 2024 horror movie titled "Amityville: Where the Echo Lives" prior to sitting down and watching it. And truth be told, I harbored zero expectations to director Carlos Ayala, as the majority of movies with the word 'Amityville' in the title is pure rubbish.
And true to formula, then "Amityville: Where the Echo Lives" was a lousy horror experience. The narrative in the movie moves forward with absolutely no momentum. In fact, it is slow paced that it feels as if it was actually going in reverse. And whatever script that had been churned out for director Carlos Ayala to bring to the screen hed zero interesting contents. There was nothing scary to be seen anywhere in the movie, well, not unless you consider a monotonous narrative and shallow script as scary.
Of course I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in this low budget attempt of a horror movie. And while I usually do enjoy watching unfamiliar talents and faces on the screen, it just wasn't the cast with this movie, because the script was ridiculous and the acting performances were wooden, rigid and devoid of emotions.
Do yourself a favor and give "Amityville: Where the Echo Lives" a wide berth. It just simply isn't worth squandering 89 minutes on watching. Some of us suffered through this dung heap, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.
My rating of director Carlos Ayala's 2024 horror movie "Amityville: Where the Echo Lives" lands on a generous two out of ten stars. I would have rated it a mere one star, but at least the production value of the movie was good enough to drag it up to a meager two out of ten stars.

I just watched it because the reviews were bad... and it was really bad indeed. Dull, uninspiring and nothing was really interesting - not the story, not the characters, not the scenery... Even the girl that wants to investigate the place seems to talk about so-called scary things like she is doing a book review on a dictionary.
I hope this was a high school project of a few students that had to make a movie without spending a single dollar and bringing in friends as actors...
If you also consider watching this movie because you want to know how the movie was - please review your life choices and put this lower on the list.

The only reference to Amityville is in the title.
Terrible script, questionable acting, really no explanation of most of the scenes.
Clips from old scary movies, the City, a Teapot boiling, etc, etc.
Lots of nothingness paired with odd shots of senseless, unrelated things that I'm sure mean something to someone but it's not us, the viewers.
Perhaps a good entrance for Drama or another form of Actiing for Students, Camera and/or Sound Techs but this is not a Movie that should have been put up for Pay per View. I'm contemplating asking not only a refund, but compensation for the time spent watching.
Again, great attempt for beginners, Students and such but this should not have been presented as a Horror PPV.

Someone had to purposely make the movie this bad, for it to be this bad. Flossing my teeth during the movie was the most entertainment I had. Hiring cats to play each part would have provided better acting, and a better script. That's right, at least then, the director would have had an excuse for the epic failure, or perhaps success had there been actual cats playing the parts. If I had to watch it all over again, I'd plan ahead to have my eye doctor dilate my eyes and then I'd turn the volume all the way down. I suppose, it could have been worse though, had the movie been 2 hours instead of 90 minutes.

This is probably the worst movie I've ever seen in my entire life. It has some seriously bad acting, no real chemistry between the actors, also seems like the audio is dubbed. This movie is what you would expect from school students. It's basically 40 minutes and 5 seconds of my life I will never get back, because literally that is all I could take of rhis movie. Don't waste your time on this trash. Nothing good actually happens in it. Get way more entertainment watching paint dry.
Garbage, Garbage, Garbage, totally and utterly garbage, oh, did I mention totally Garbage?
Unskilled director, Unskilled actors, SERIOUSLY I'M NOT LYING, THERE IS A LINE IN THE MOVIE, "NOTHING IS REALLY HAPPENING"
YOU DON'T SAY! NOTHING AT ALL IS HAPPENING IN THIS MOVIE.

Watching this film and waiting for something to actually happen is akin to watching paint dry. I mean, there's more entertainment value watching two hours of QVC home shopping than this. It's in no way related to any other Amityville film or story as far as I could tell. That said, even losing the branding on its title still wouldn't help anything out, it's not a piece of work that can stand on its own at all.
I honestly don't know what the plot of the film is because it gets so boring and nothing happens, even the most dedicated viewer tunes out. I don't understand the director or producer's motivation for even making this film as I doubt it would be successful as a quick money grab even in second run theaters.
Even watching it for free on a free streaming service was a rip off. When someone figures out the point of this film or what message it's trying to convey, please comment it.

I know that this can sound overdramatic, but this is definitely one of the worst movies I have ever watched! I have watched thousands of horror movies in my life, but I have never been subjected to the to ridiculousness that is this movie before.
One big gripe I have is that the screen goes to black for over a minute multiple times throughout the movie. It makes no sense whatsoever and you have no idea why. Also, you have to read basically a book when you're watching this movie. There are sections of it where you have to read so much it makes your head hurt.
I would not wish this movie on my worst enemies because I'm not that sadistic and mean! I have no idea why they call this Amityville because it has nothing to do with the original story. Do yourself a favor and run. Don't walk, run get the hell away from this movie because if you don't, you're gonna have extreme brain rot!
I have no idea how this movie got green lit and made because it is arguably the worst movie I've ever seen! Watch at your own risk!

I went into this with LOW expectations based on other reviews. About an hour in, I realized what I was watching. The music, the way it was cut, the back and forth psychological to real world, the words on the screen. This is what you get if
You were to ask the creators of the silent hill origins game to write a movie based on real life paranormal investigations. You're not going to have jump scares. Instead you're going to get an abstract look into the psyche of a woman suffering intermingled with what a paranormal investigation is like in the best of times, a lot of sitting around waiting with small bursts of revelation and evidence.

This movie is super below my expectation! This is NOT the same Amityville movies I always get to watch.
The actress has been going round and around the whole hour in the haunted room, and nothings happening. And it's even just a paranormal practitioner who does not have any proven experience yet. She doesn't know what to do. They should also choose an actress who can even be artistic on acting. I have to delay watching 3x just to finish it, waiting and hoping as if something will happen exciting very soon.
It's horror movie, everyone should feel thrilled but nah, it's Suupper booooooring!!..

I'm ok with slow burns but this movie had no plot or if it did they never showed it. Boring boring, boring. Not scary at all. Nothing to do with Amityville. The best part was backstory you read at the beginning which is not even truly mentioned again until the very end but makes no sense. I want my time back. I want my braincells i lost watching it. I just kept waiting for it to get good. I'm now going to avoid anything made by the director or writers. The subplot, if that's what you can it,
about her bff goes absolutly nowhere. The actress had 1 expression the entire movie. You can't even connect with the characters because you're to busy asking yourself why am i still watching this garbage. Please don't waste your time, it's trash.
I have to agree that it seems like a HS or early college project. I just don't think the production or directors had enough "substance" or magic, for the low budget "artsy" shots or the really weird blackouts with basic text on the screen. It just seemed very amateur. I'm sorry to those who were involved, I'm sure you tried.... It just didn't work. My anxiety/stress level triggered my smart watch to alert me, which only came from watching this "movie" and getting frustrated.
I would probably put this on to fall asleep to... Low monotone dialect and very slow passed.
It really makes me angry that Amityville is in the name.

Been into it over an hour. And Nothing
They put words on the screen to read!
This could've been a musical with all the slow boring elevator music they've played...I'm so over this movie. It was nothing what I expected. Don't waste your time on this one. It's not gonna be what you considered. They are too many silent parts where the ominous music just leads you on and leaves you hanging. You think the cucuy is gonna pop up and do a jump scary but nothing happens and more creepy music only, suspendió music and more of nothing. I am lost in what she is seeing and what part is dream of hers and which is part of movie..

I literally just saw a question on Insta this morning that asked, "What was the worst movie you ever saw?" and I couldn't answer it. That is until now! The storyline and writing were terrible. The mom on the phone at the beginning sounds as if she never acted before! Lines were very dry with zero emotion or connection to the words. Further, the text stated she would call at 5 but then ends the conversation with, "Have a good day." I do believe 5 is considered night. Assignment fail - The movie was neither Amityville nor scary! Sarah is young and did what she could with her character but this film didn't do anything for her. I struggled to get through it and only perked up when I saw the bright night sky at the end but, sorry to say, I would like to reclaim my time.

By far the stupidest movie ever! Barely a plot, I have no idea what's going on and the actors are just.....boring. They might as well rate it "G". The Conjuring had a better representation of The Amitiville Horror than this movie did. I wish these directors and producers would get scary again. Everything is so watered down. Please stop making the main character depressed, that doesn't make the movie automatically scary. I've read Goosebumps books scarier than this. Hell, I've seen scooby doo movies scarier than this. Definitely a disappointment. Thank God I didn't let my date watch it with me.
I'm at a loss for words about Amityville: Where the Echo Lives-except to say that my regret for watching it was the only thing that echoed.
Let's talk about the "main character," who comes across as a stand-in rather than a hero. Dull, flat, and lacking emotional connection, they stumble through the movie as if they've lost their way to a better screenplay. And don't get me started on the supporting cast-or the ghost/spirit/whatever it was meant to be. Store mannequins have shown more life than these characters.
Slapping "Amityville" on the title seems like a ploy to grab attention. The movie has no link to the original story or any of the eerie vibes you'd expect from an Amityville film. It's a classic example of piggybacking on a well-known name to lure viewers, only to let them down for an hour and a half straight.
The movie has many lengthy periods of empty screen time-actual black screens with unclear text trying to come across as "mood" or "background." But it seems the creators didn't have enough footage and tacked on padding to reach the required length.
This movie tries too hard to be an "artsy" psychological horror piece-maybe aiming for Cannes-level depth-but it ends up somewhere between a student film and a YouTube project created by a bunch of preteens who believe jump scares and vague text overlays make for horror.
You've got bad movies, and then you've got Where the Echo Lives-a mind-numbing cinematic snooze fest that's as unoriginal as it is unmemorable. Please don't bother with it. You can spend your time and keep your sanity on something better.

What does this movie have to do with Amityville at all? Nothing.
The script is a joke. The plot is very disjointed and makes no sense. There's like 6 minutes of a story with 80+ minutes of filler thrown around it.
The main character is supposed to be a paranormal investigator, but seems to get bored if nothing happens within 30 seconds of getting to a location. And what's with all the note taking when she's watching paranormal shows? Oh, someone is walking down a hallway... I better scribble this down!
Also, most of the other characters seem to be in there just to get "acting" credits because they don't really add much to the plot.
Do not waste your time on this one.

This is nothing like the other movies. I was beyond bored for the whole movie until finally a little, and I mean a little horror happened at the end. Still don't waste your time unless you absolutely have nothing else to do. I don't know what they were trying to do with this movie and why all the scenes seemed so slow and so many pauses in between dialogue. Some scenes seemed irrelevant to the movie. I might have enjoyed this movie if I was high but that is a big maybe. Might be the only way to watch it. Maybe if the back story was bought out more for the main character would have been great and what was with all the captioning.
It was protracted with the worst acting. I was expecting more for this franchise on this movie. It needed to have more jump scares, some gore, better reference to the original, and more substance for storyline. It almost bared resemblance to The Blair witch project and a couple other movies. It really seemed repetitive with the main character just walking around, standing in odd places (I get she was dreaming), and trying to run from nothing. It was hard to keep focus on what it probably should have been. This really wasn't Amityville horror material. I would rather watch paint dry and a pot of water boil. It could have been better. Pure let down.
I never EVER leave reviews, but if doing so can somehow spare someone from wasting even five minutes of their life on this movie, I can sleep better at night. This movie is the result of what happens when you give a moody middle schooler free reign of a iPhone Pro, in the absolute worst way imaginable.
The pace is like a snail moving on a spilt mason jar full of molasses. Scenes last minutes and somehow fail move the non-existent plot forward. In addition, there are frame after frame of poorly written text 'clues' that sound like they were borrowed from said middle schooler's diary. Avoid at all costs.

I wanted to title my review "What?", but I see that was already taken! This is one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. The highlight for me was watching the lead character put jelly on her toast. That was as exciting as the movie got. Though watching the toast pop up was a close second.
I was shocked at the credits. There were so, so many people involved in making this disaster of a movie. Though Carlos Ayala takes most of the blame, since he wrote and directed the movie, among his many other credits.
The film was excruciatingly slow. Even the dialogue; there were times when the actors...would...pause...in...the...middle...of....sentences...for...no...apparent...reason while saying their lines.
Then there were the plot lines left unresolved and the characters coming and going at random. What? This felt like a bad student film.
Some bad movies can be made fun of to get some enjoyment out of them. Not this one. There isn't even enough material here to do that.
