L'Obscurité

Milic (director) intended to make a film metaphor about evil and paranoia, about people who are isolated and in constant fear of what the evening brings. The fear in them is so strong that it becomes difficult to distinguish what is real and what is not. Darkling pours from the outside world into the souls of the heroes, slowly eating them from within.

For people with brains.

If you were an outsider and didnt know the history behind this movie, you would barely understand anything. The first hour of the movie there is barely anything happening, the movie is just quiet. At 70 minute mark i went to the toilet hoping That when i Come back there Will be something interesting happening. The only rollercoster is literally at the last 15 minutes of the movie, and then at the end of the movie you are left with a lot of unanswered questions (looking from a standpoint where you dont know the history behind the movie). I think it could have been done a lot better.

The movie is almost unwatchable. After an hour, nothing happened. Literally nothing. My partner gave up on the movie and left.

I decided to finish it and it was a mistake.

As someone who is from the balkans who understands the story quite well, I expected so much from this movie. They are relying so much on people's sentimentality and "they will know what it's all about', so they forgot to actually create a good movie.

Acting is honestly terrible. Vukica doesn't know how to convey emotions, the teacher at the school sounded like she was reading a power point presentation...They could have done so much more with this, and they failed.

In my opinion, this is a really bad movie not even worth of watching. It could have been a short, 30 min film instead of dragging it out.

So intense. Story, sounds, effects...in my opinion one of the best dramas in the last 5,6 years. If you are not familiar with the situation on Kosovo in the 2004. Read about it and watch the movie. Masterpiece.

Please read about the 2004 unrest in Kosovo before watching this movie! Otherwise AMAZING acting, Danica did an amazing job with the Serbian accent from Kosovo, as well as did the little girl (her daughter in the movie) for a first big role the girl did an amazing job, the script is superb, and the whole scenery is depicted very well.

The movie itself (aside from the whole background) is about how humans cope with fear, anxiety and everything that comes with it. Very emotional and deep. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, and I must say that this is one of the best Serbian dramas I've seen in the past 10 years or more!
