Good magical genre anime to waste time

I know theres a lot of ecchi, lolis, big boobs and all other flashy stuff involved in this anime but it really is entertaining if you wanna waste your time for a few laughs or two! The English Dub cast are pretty neat like Lauren Landa as Kirche was the best out of them all. Same time all were good too in their own way! I wouldn't call this series the best out there but its definitely not the worst, give it a try!

The best anime for first-time viewers.

Okay, I'm not sure. This is actually the first anime I've ever watched. But, if you're just beginning to watch anime I can assure you this will definitively get you into everything about the anime experience!

Compared to American movies, especially those by Disney, Pixar, and the likes, it has a storyline like no other. The storywriting is amazing and everything from the uniqueness of- well, I wish I could tell you! But you just have to watch it yourself!

If you get attached to characters, especially when playing games or watching movies, then this TV show is for you. Connecting with the characters you can easily feel what they feel, and it will leave you wanting more. Attaching yourself to multiple characters, seeing from their eyes and their point of views, it changes everything and makes it so much more important to you. Please, I cannot recommend it enough. Especially if you're just experimenting with anime. Don't care if others call you "Weebs" or "Anime Lovers". They just won't, and don't, understand, until they watch it.

And yes, I may be a first time anime watcher, so this review might not be en point to any other anime, but being a first time watcher that means I can definitely give you the point of view from a beginner, and that's what's most important to getting more people into watching it, no?

10/10, absolutely amazing. I will be watching this again.

Lighthearted, comic series with some interesting story lines & action.

The "Familiar of Zero" features several main characters, but the predominant two are Louise, a comely young female in a strange world where magic prevails, and Saito, a boy who is magically summoned there from Earth by Louise's rite to obtain herself a "familiar." Familiars are creatures teleported into this society from wherever by all the magical (noble) people of this society when they come of age, to help their masters with their magic and battles.

The only overriding story arc throughout all 4 series is the stormy, and ofttimes comical, relationship between Louise and Saito. She is a childish, immature, jealous, and short-tempered noble who has a difficult time handling her more laidback and relatively Earthly normal boy familiar, Saito. It does get a little old to have her rage against him constantly, even as she falls in love with him, but the creators maintain that as a comic element throughout. The other nobles have summoned strange creatures like flying dragons and oversized moles and other things that don't fall into any category at all; Louise summoned another human, for which she is ridiculed, for he is one not even from her world. She also has difficulty employing her magic, which is why she is called "Louise the Zero." The only thing she can reliably do is cause explosions, which are often inappropriate while she is trying to do something else, all of which doesn't help her reputation; but it is occasionally funny.

Louise and Saito, along with their other bevy of friends, encounter a series of problems for their kingdoms throughout the 4 series, and the magical people must employ all their magic to do the battles and resolve the issues. There are monsters and bad guys and a few poignant situations which the two main characters have to confront with all of their friends, but always it is Louise, who doesn't want to admit that she's fallen in love with her familiar, that rages at and explodes her love interest, Saito, when he even looks at some of the other busty women around them. Louise herself, although quite attractive, has a slimmer build, which constantly irritates her in the face of her more zaftig girlfriends and associates, particularly when Saito looks at them and/or they are sweet on him.

Beyond that, all the noble magicians must confront these difficult situations for their kings and queens to save them, the kingdom, and sometimes the planet, from destruction by maniacal evildoers. Essentially created as a comedy, the "Familiar ..." series has some tender moments and some creditable story arcs within it. Graphics, animation, and music are routine, with nothing special about them, but they are adequate, and don't get in the way of the stories. There are some shapely, scantily clad females provided for viewers, but nothing that comes up to what you might call "fan service"; it probably could have used some to provide a little more visual interest, since there were many opportunities for it, but the creators kept it more youthfully oriented and didn't do that. Altogether, "The Familiar of Zero" is a lighthearted series with some interesting story arcs, comedy, and battle scenes, which should provide ample entertainment for those who watch it.

Fantasy with a side of abuse

If you wanna watch a fantasy anime show where most of the runtime is spent with the enslaved male lead getting abused by a dumb and annoying tsundere girl who always tries to play the hero while not being able to do any magic correctly then this is the show for you.

Now don't get me wrong, i do get the appeal of tsunderes (trust me, one of my favorite anime characters of all time is Taiga from 'Toradora') but Louise is straight up abusive to Saito, not only does she deny him food for i don't know how long, makes him sleep on the floor and wash her clothes (including her dirty underwear) but she hits him with a stick thingy too, and yeah i do know this isn't the only anime where the tsundere girl hits the guy but at least in other series the guy isn't getting beat up with a freaking stick.

I really don't like saying this but... just imagine if the roles were reversed, there would be way more feedback if it was the case, as everyone would see how abusive this all is, let's be real here ! (or maybe not, cuz some of y'all really don't like women but that's neither here nor there)

What makes it worse is that Louise isn't a good magic user, cause as i said she's not able to do any magic correctly so her being a huge jerk isn't even justified here, i mean yeah she's a noble but does that even matter if she sucks that much? I have no idea how she wasn't expelled from the school when she's this useless.

And i'm saying all that even though i didn't like Saito either (or any of the characters in the show for that matter), sure Louise is the worst main female character/love interest i've ever seen in any media but he's just another boring self insert isekai protagonist who you just follow while not really caring about.

With all that said, I would still recommend this to people who can look past that and just enjoy the show for what it is as it's not something most people would (or should) take seriously, even if I don't believe that abuse is funny in any case but hey maybe that's just me, although i do think it's worth mentioning that it does get better after four episodes or so if you do plan to watch it.

a very nice and entertaining series

The animation isn't the best quality if you compare this to Kanon 2006 or the two Rozen Maiden series but it isn't a problem. Sounds are also not topnotch but the voices are very well chosen (especially the voice of Louise. great voice with lost of emotion and variation.). The main reason why i will recommend it is the story. The story about a boy who accidentally gets transported to another world and has to serve the one who got him there (a girl) ain't new, but what is is that it is brought in such a fashion that you notice small changes in personality. This enhances the pleasure of watching greatly. Also the interaction between the characters is of high quality. In all it is really worth watching this series and re-watching it to see all small details they carefully inserted into the series.
