Sick Bastard

Jason Impey has an absolute bucketful of credits from 2000 through to present day. I must admit I do not think that I have seen any of his other films. On the strength of this I would not be totally adverse to watching another one.

Jason Impey really had a hand in almost every department of this film. Shot in the UK, which automatically endeared this to me. This is about a mad cannibalistic person who escapes an asylum and goes on a murderous killing spree. Well that's about it really. No real motive or character development. All we get is some gore that I did find quite effective. I also found one scene to be quite laugh out loud, where the lumbering madman attacks a martial artist and managed to get the better of him !!!!!

Don't really get to see many UK no budget efforts, so nice to find this obscurity.

Overall not a great film and the running time of one hour and nine minutes means that it does not outstay it's welcome.

O my God! It's the best horror movie I've ever seen! Good maniac portrayed by Ken Dire look like madness woman. It's good idea to have travesty actor for woman maniac. Also, I want to look at detective played by Jason Impey. For a long time he drive the car for 1-2 minutes. It's genius! In his eyes you can see all these madness of the world, like if Kenyan hippopotamus looks at destroyed forest. Beautifully! About story. Madness woman escaped from asylum and killed some people. Actors play really good. For example, one guy look our maniac in forest. After that, maniac has broken his arm. Our guy don't cry! He say "ah" & "oh", and running in the forest. I can describe all best scenes, but it will be write of the great book. Best movie!

Jason Impey's take on Rob Zombie's Halloween by the way of Violent stuff, now I'm not Impey scholar or anything, but I've seen enuff (really just some shorts that appeared in the Grindsploitation flicks, and trailers) to know that I'm in for a not good time.

But... SB does have cheap gore, a sex scene where the lass takes off her shirt leaving only two (maybe even 3) layer of clothings!, a husky (aka fat) long haired killer, and plenty of aimless wanderings in the woods, rando victims, a surly deli clerk, a (husky)teen Dr. Loomis substitute pursues, so I guess I liked it?

People make films and videos for many reasons, but clearly the untalented young British wannabe Jason Impey is merely a scribbler. He's cranked out dozens of videos and SICK BASTARD is likely representative of the poor results (I won't be watching any others).

One-note, pointless exercise opens unpromisingly with over two minutes of crawl giving a back-story -necessary since the video proper has no ostensible story. Our protagonist killed his parents in 1990 and ate them; now it's 2006 and he's to be transferred from a mental institution to a low-security lock-up.

Very poorly photographed by Impey, who takes seven credits overall from acting to special effects, the video is essentially an hour of the escaped maniac killing people and generating rather uninteresting but graphic gore. Presumably, Impey and other fans like him assume that gore is the be-all and end-all of entertainment. However, meager results like those on display in SB usually end up nowhere or in this case buried on a Mill Creek Entertainment compilation.

Impey makes no attempt at clever dialog; the acting is uniformly poor, especially his own monotone non-performance as the guy hunting after the maniac. There's no suspense, either, as the maniac kills everyone as predictably as the results of a "Perry Mason" TV episode; no twists, no nothing. At video's end, he's left standing, presumably to set up a dreaded sequel.

Even the couple of attempts at humor fall flat; Impey slaps a shopkeeper who has the temerity to talk back when he asks for information; later the same shopkeeper is drowned in the sink by the maniac. A real side-splitter.

The only scene I almost enjoyed is when, after endless padding and boring driving or wandering around footage, Jason finally meets up with the maniac. M grabs Jason's gun and plugs him an even dozen times. Good riddance.
