Good cast but it will be gone soon and not missed at all....

Q: What do you get when you get a collection of reasonably talented individuals, a reasonably good premise and a bloody awful script...

A: Garbage... complete trash.

This isn't the fault of the actors all of whom have been good in other things...

No the blame for this atrocity falls squarely on the shoulders of the writers. Crude jokes, unimaginative characters, and absolutely no sense of what is actually funny vs. what is just stupid.

I feel most sorry for Shaun Majumdar (a fellow Canadian) who was saddled needlessly with an Indian accent and cast as the token stereotype.

The good news is that even Fox won't air this trash for long... if it weren't for the writers strike I doubt it would have ever seen the light of day.

Give this one a chance, eh?

I felt compelled to make this posting after reading a couple pretty visceral postings which seemed inexplicably hateful about this rather light and funny show. Lighten up, geez! It's a brand new 30-minute sitcom on Fox that follows a cartoon! Go watch some tired old Seinfeld reruns and give the rest of us a break.

Part of why I like the show so far is that it doesn't take itself seriously, it feels playful and not so staged or forced. These people look and sound like they're having fun, and so the funny lines flow and don't feel so much like punchlines. The writing isn't afraid to go after the less-tame quirks that come with bad dates and I'm-conspicuously-over-30-and uncomfortably-single insecurity. The characters aren't as hopelessly selfish and dysfunctional as the Seinfeld quartet, and (gratefuly) they're not running around with quizzical "I'm perfect and surrounded by morons" expressions like the cast of Friends' characters always were, which frankly annoyed the hell out of me after awhile. (I still shake my head in amazement that Jennifer Anniston has since been able to redeem herself to me as a fine actor...unlike the rest of them.)

So give this kid some air, will-ya? At least the show truly comes from Boston - the writer/creators AND those famous directors are all from New England - and uptight Boston should be ready for something more contemporary than "Cheers" to see its untidy reflection in.

I have to say this show is HILARIOUS!

I just watched the first episode of this show on Itunes and I have to say that although there is a bit more storyline than jokes, this show is HILARIOUS. The characters are far more mature than what is seen in typical Farelly brothers comedy, which actually makes the show far more appealing. I think that this first show played it safe as far as "edginess", and given the context of what this show's subject matter portrays, you can expect a lot more from this show in the coming weeks. I can't say this show will have a serious future like Friends or Seinfeld, but I can definitely see this show going for a while. I mean seriously, who hasn't secretly snickered at something COMPLETELY childish *ahem dumb and dumber*? It's a great comedy for the child in adults and I think it will definitely do well. Definitely can't wait to see more!

Horrible Waste of Time

I received the pilot episode for free from itunes and watched it this afternoon. During the 22 minutes of Farrelly directed comedy, I chuckled, maybe twice. Basically, Unhitched is about four friends who are all newly single and find themselves in ridiculously awkward dating situations. The actors are unlikable, the dialogue is strained and filled with done-before gags, and the situations made me glad that I was watching alone so I wouldn't have to share the awkwardness with anyone else. Overall, I don't see any future for this show. Sorry Farrelly brothers, you had a run awhile back, but you can add this one to your growing list of bombs.

Top new show of the spring season

This is honestly my favorite show on TV besides family guy, Simpson's, American dad etc... I really love this show. It's not like any other show because usually in these types of shows there are a group of friends and they're all experiencing new relationships, but in this show they were all married and subsequently divorced.

I truly think that you people should put away the critical mind and stop looking for a drama when you watch this show. It's meant to just be something to watch and relax, like TV is meant to be.

I kind of would compare it to How I met your mother in a sense because it kind of shows a different date every episode and unlike friends and Seinfeld etc.. it goes there and shows kinky sex scenes and modern sexy women.

"Unhitched" is Unfathomably Unfunny

Unhitched is one of the worst new shows I've seen in a long time. It is less funny than staring at your TV for half an hour when it is turned off. All of the jokes are groan-inducing they are so bad and none of the characters are funny or likable or interesting in any way whatsoever. The writing is so bad it passes through the realm of "so bad it's funny" to become one of the few shows that can be classified as "so completely awful it's not even funny to laugh at".

I can't think of a single reason why a show this completely awful in every possible respect could make it to broadcast. I am used to seeing a lot of garbage on TV but when something like this comes on my TV, that is so pathetically awful it's just begging to be canceled and put out of its misery, I just shake my head and say "why?" and wonder who it is that's going to inevitably be fired for this obvious mistake.

Cancel the show, burn the tapes, and let's all never speak of it again.

Hmmmm

Yeah.......so........hmmmmm. Great actors, great producers, pretty 'OK' director, terrible writing, horrible comedy, and even though 'Dumb and Dumber' was one of the best comedy movies ever made, or at least most successful. It was in the late 90's. This would have lasted 2 season in 98-99. Now, I give it 2-3 more episodes. Which is a bummer because I like everyone who works on this show, but if you throw too much in the pot, its not going to taste good. Again, I have no problem with the talent nor production teams. But someone really sat down, watched it, and said, "This is gold. Lets give 'em and 8 episode deal." Good luck to all the viewers and good luck to the director.

i'd rather spend the day at the DMV than be subjected to this again

i knew by the trailers which have been running the past 6 weeks that this show was going to be awful. I just didn't expect it to be AS bad as it was.

so as to not "spoil" anything, i'll refrain from mentioning the closing visuals of the cold open featuring an Orangutan, but it made south park look tasteful.

regardless of the heinous opening, the rest of the show was simply not funny. i mean not even remotely funny... it was kinda sad.

this show would never have seen the light of day if it had not been for the track record of the producers.

The next big hit.

I also watched the pilot as well as the second episode and completely disagree. How can you say this show isn't funny? It's about time TV shows were funny again. There are only so many Back to You's and Until Death's we can take. If you don't find this show funny, you might want to check your sense of humor meter. It's probably you.

I actually thought the second episode was slightly funnier than the first. The cast seems to be having a great time and it really shows. Reminds a lot of Seinfeld, but has it's own identity. I love how it goes for the humor, but keeps the characters grounded. Rashida Jones is the next big star and Craig Bierko is a solid leading man. The other two actors seem like a couple of sleepers. I bet this show has a long, long run. At least I hope it does.

Yes! True Comedy GOLD. This Show Caused Me to Almost Suffocate With Laughter!

It's not just the hilarious writing and bombastic imagination of the plot direction in each episode.

The cast has fantastic comedic chemistry. Bierko, Sneed, Jones and Shaun Majumder all know what they are doing and understand the jokes before they portray them. Too many comedy shows give you the feeling that the actors themselves don't really get the humor they're trying to portray. These characters are absolutely hilarious:

Bierko's smooth and suave lead, the successful financial analyst continually foiled by the bumbling of the other three divorcées.

Jone's rational and callous divorce attorney who is blinded by her feminine perspective on life and can't see why people don't see her as a warm person.

Majumder, the Indian immigrant physician who finds every difficult task easy except the most mundane, ubiquitous ordeals of American life, forcing him to depend on others who are intellectually so very far beneath him to guide his way through American culture.

Sneed, the adult ADHD afflicted, sex addicted, social numbskull, the only one who has been divorced three times, who parasitizes the other three characters yet serves as the cultural anchor that brings the three overachievers down to everyone else's level with his cockeyed behavior.

This show had me nearly rolling on the floor. You really have to be a stuffed shirt not to get the continuous humor in this TV show. I could really appreciate this show continuing for several years. There is no phoniness in this show at all. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It is just supposed to be funny, there is nothing serious at all about this TV show and that is one of the things that is so refreshing about the show.

I can't wait for more episodes. Six episodes are available online as of April 9, 2008:

I hope that others will enjoy this even half as much as I have.

The Farrelly Brothers Fail Again

What is it about the Farrelly brothers that people enjoy? No matter what they make, I just can't find any decent entertainment out of it. The jokes suck, the humor is almost non-existent, and the whole experience is tedious and painful.

And, that about sums up Fox's latest supposed sitcom.

What equates to an unfunny "Seinfeld" knock-off, this show tries to be edgy and funny and fails on both counts about 98% of the time. When you don't even find yourself smiling (much less laughing) at a sitcom, then something is wrong with the show.

To quickly sum up this mess, four single friends (on of them recently divorced) jump back into the dating circuit, with supposed hilarity ensuing. But, if things like worn out sex jokes and "kid in the helmet" jokes are the best these writers can do, then this show is in desperate need of help.

Honestly, there are much better things you can do with your Sunday night. Slamming your head against a brick wall comes to mind.

In closing, this show just sucks. There is no other way to really say it.

4 friends going on some wonderfully bad dates.

This show was hilarious. You have to have an appreciation for big comedy because it delivers that! The jokes felt real and felt grownup - nothing had been watered down for TV - or broadcast TV rather. It honestly felt like what a "Fox" comedy should be. The cast is also amazing! They feel like they're already old friends. Craig Bierko and Rasheda Jones are pretty well known and already fairly beloved but Johnny Sneed and Shaun Majumder are just fantastic breakouts. Shaun also has some great character clips on you-tube that I'd recommend. I can't wait to watch the rest of the series! If you like big broad funny this is a show for you.

Un-watchable

This show was terrible.

I would say that Un-Hitched was Un-Watchable and I wish I could Un-make the mistake of trying watch it. What a waste of three precious evenings trying to make sense of this awful show and trying to trick myself into liking it.

I really have nothing else to say. Kind of surprised how much the bad feelings rose up in me again seeing this show pop up on my IMDb search screen under another show I actually wanted to see the page for. That's how bad it was that even after all this time I still feel angry thinking of it.

Really awful waste of a TV show and some great talent (Rashida Jones is funny)

Modern Day Seinfeld

I thought it was great! it is awesome. Rasia Jones plays exactly like Elaine. even though nothing could beat Seinfeld. it was close. there was a small nerdy guy - George and 2 taller overconfident guys - jerry and Kramer.

I thought that it was not disappointing at all! how dare you say that!

Thought it was excellent

definitely recommend it! Watch it Sunday nights! Definitely watch it. i may have a different opinion than other people. but i have watched many shows. and i think it is great. Unhitched is a good way to get a laugh!!!!!!!!!!

Less than mediocre garbage

I love when people claim that this show is funny. It doesn't take that much to make me laugh and I just stared blankly at the TV for 30 minutes begging the show to make me laugh just once. Don't get me wrong, I understand all the jokes, but just because I understand a joke doesn't make it worth laughing over.

The characters are bland, uninteresting, and lifeless. The fake-Indian-accent guy is annoying as Hell and he had the most lines out of anyone. The only reason I'm going to watch it this week is to see the hotness of Rashida Jones and I pray that she has more lines. On The Office she had about 4 lines an episode and on here she just upgraded herself to 5 lines.

Demand more from your sitcom writers, and actors/actresses

The only reason I watched this show, is because they replaced a great show (American Dad) with this highly predictable comedy that isn't funny, and I keep hoping that American Dad will one day find its place back in the only line up on television that I truly watch. This show makes no sense. Why do these characters who are just recently divorced want to jump back in to the dating game, all the while demonstrating that they haven't learned from the their last failed relationships. Why didn't they try to just work it out with their previous spouses? Oh I know because they are all looking for the so called "THE ONE". It seems to me With the exception of the one guy Jack "Gator" Gately (I really don't know any of these actors/actresses, not from other shows or any place) who's girl left him because she's shallow and was cheating, no one else gave a strong argument for their splits. All the characters in this show are shallow, their dating choices are based sole on looks. The spouses that they had before were all hot. The women in this show is supposedly suppose to be intelligent because she can always out wit the guys, in insults and problem solving, but it's the looks and money that fuels her dating interest, it fuels all of their motivation for dating someone. I understand that we are attracted to people based on that, but do we all have to pretend that only hot people walk the earth turning our heads? People say "Oh it's just television". That is true, but when you can predict every punch line and situation about to happen, you have to ask your self, were is the evolution of the art of joke telling in sitcoms? And I feel very sorry for the actor Shaun Majumder. I feel he's doing what blacks had to do back when they were first allowed to play in films, steppin and fetching (you know all the yes masa and mammy talk). The whole accent thing is a put down, and a let down, and it shows me that America still believes that such degrading unfunny racial satire is still OK. Not saying you can't make fun of one for being different, that is the black art of comedy, nor am I saying it's racially biased and driven. What I am saying is that we need to be more intelligent and diverse when it comes to putting down those who are different. Stop recycling the same old racist jokes, stop recycling the same Idea that men are stupid and clueless around women, stop recycling the girl sidekick, who none of her male friends seems to be attracted to, until two seasons in. And I predict that if this show goes on for that long she and this gator guy will realize they were the "one" for each other all along, sounds like another miserable show I never watched but know that it's the bases for some of this, "Freinds".

Happy TV watching ya ll.

This Show is Pathetic!

This show is pathetic.

It's the worst show I've ever seen.

I hate this show.

Avoid watching it at all costs unless you are blind and deaf and have no sense of humor whatsoever.

Whoever is responsible for making this show and putting it on TV should be beaten to death in the town square so that everyone can get a few kicks and punches in.

Unhitched is unparalleled when it comes to being PATHETIC.

I need another line? Okay.... Unhitched sucks hairy mangoes.

Pure and utter garbage

I have watched a lot of TV in my life, some good, some not so good.

Rarely have I witnessed a show such as this that is so abysmally wretched that I completely fail to capture how vile it is in spite of usIng all my favorite derogatory nouns and adjectives.

I can only assume those giving this train wreck high marks are either TV industry hacks and shills or perhaps are quadriplegics unable to operate the remote to see what else might be on one of the other 1001 channels.

The structure is a shameless rip-off of Seinfeld, complete with a hipster doofus Kramer clone.

The gags are obvious and completely devoid of humor above a 3rd grade level.

Anyone who received one dime of compensation from this crapfest should forever be banned from the industry for life. Yeah, I know that sentence is a head- scratcher. I mean it: if someone who profited from this stinking cesspool of inanity were to die should come back to life, they should still be banned.

What a sad, embarrassing waste of perfectly good electrons.

Rashida Jones's character on Unhitched

named Kate Frankola--that is actually my name! People I know told me about Unhitched for that reason before I even heard of the show. I know Kate is a common name, but I am wondering who came up with Frankola and why. Probably no one here knows, oh well, still cool. Anyone know how I can contact anyone in charge of naming characters on the show?

I wish I didn't have to write something worth ten lines. I'll leave ya'll with a poem, In Memoriam Mae Noblitt by AR Ammons:

This is just a place: we go around, distanced, yearly in a star's

atmosphere, turning daily into and out of direct light and

slanting through the quadrant seasons: deep space begins at our

heels, nearly rousing us loose: we look up or out so high, sight's

silk almost draws us away: this is just a place: currents worry themselves

coiled and free in airs and oceans: water picks up mineral shadow and

plasm into billions of designs, frames: trees, grains, bacteria: but

is love a reality we made here ourselves-- and grief--did we design

that--or do these, like currents, whine in and out among us merely

as we arrive and go: this is just a place: the reality we agree with,

that agrees with us, outbounding this, arrives to touch, joining with

us from far away: our home which defines us is elsewhere but not

so far away we have forgotten it: this is just a place.
