Avis à la une
Nostalgic images from the past, 1940's, Welles visiting Rio, great soundtrack, and music stars Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia and João Gilberto united to record "Brasil" in 1981. That was Sganzerla's "Brasil", a bunch of images from behind the scenes of such recording, no interviews with the artists, no opinions given, just music flowing in the background and grainy images on the screen. Cool story bro.
An outstanding reunion of talents, happily gathered on a studio, presenting a new look to oldies samba classics. Highpoint is seeing João Gilberto in a good mood, very friendly way before his famous rants in concerts breaking guitars or being completely recluse. And to hear the beautiful 'Aquarela do Brasil' by Ary Barroso playing in the opening scenes. Disappointment was not seeing a so necessary film being made, and above all what irritated me the most was seeing in the images the "Brazil exportation type", only images of Rio and that's it. Sure, it's pride and joy of our nation and the most recognizable images foreigners have from here but we do have more than 20 states, cities and locations even more gorgeous than the Pão de Açucar and the Cristo Redentor, and to call a movie with the nation's name only giving us one city is quite a shame, an insult to the Brazilians living in other places. Watchable but forgettable. 6/10
