This show is a great example of a low-budget success. It has great writing and the delivery of lines by the actors is priceless. The story revolves around the son of Count Dracula. His name is Vlad. He has a sister(Ingrid) and they must integrate into human society with Vlad and Ingrid going to a regular school. Van Helsing is a teacher at the school and tries to expose the Count at all costs. Vlad does not want to become a vampire but his sister is deeply into her family heritage. Unfortunately for her tradition dictates Vlad will take over the family one day. Count Dracula is one of the main reasons to watch this show. To see him in his naturally evil surroundings and trying to raise his kids is brilliant. Not to mention parent/teacher meetings. This show is great fun and it goes to show you don't need a massive budget to pull off great television viewing.
This is on of the only shows I watched as a child which I still rewatch to this day. It's funny, gothic, and campy in a similar way to the Addams family.
One of my early alternative style influences, I'm now 23 and it's one of my favourite vampire shows/films. I have bonded with so many people over the nostalgia of this series.
Great to show to a young alternative/ gothic person. Also a great introduction to the many versions of Dracula as it is so child friendly yet uses characters and names from the bram stokers Dracula .
Highly recommend to anyone young and old. It will be a great show to one day watch with my future children.

When I found season 1 and 2 of Young Dracula at the Library I said: "wow! this is going to be so cool!" So I got it straight away! And when I was in the car I was determined to see it.So I got home very quickly!!!When I was watching season 1 I found it very interesting! And I always say: Never judge a DVD/book by its cover!(Even though I loved the cover)! And then I watched season 2 and "the chosen one"(Vlad)Makes it very interesting! And from then on it was my favorite movie! I was so determined to find season 3 in the Library! And after 2 weeks I found it!It was SO interesting!I request you should watch it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sophie (7 years old)
a nice comedy series about a too old subject. smart, amusing, reflecting cultural references and using the long tradition about the exotic stranger who looks be the ordinary citizen, it is a pretty entertainment and that virtue is not small. because, in a society who transforms the vampires in a cool trend, this children series represents a kind of oasis , for the fine irony, for the alternative story and for the reflection of the needs and expectations of young Dracula in middle of his strange family. a film adapted to young public with humor and the spirit of old good comedy spirit. and that fact is the good point. short, a real good series.for entire family, about a classic theme in new terms, with a clever script and good acting.
This is a really wild and wacky, OK its on kids TV but it is brill. I got around to watching it when I was ill but now I just have to record it each week. The cast is all really good from the kid actors to the adults, definitely including the 600 year old Count (who is pretty damn yummy). But the whole thing is just so great to watch
and its funny. Really nice characterisation by the actors all in all it's more or less perfect, apart from when they show it

BBC is putting out some good stuff at the moment and some absolute dross but why the heck doesn't this sort of quality get some sort of push into the schedule or at least some mention have they ever heard of cult following?
