'We were raised on Elvis': Priscilla star Cailee Spaeny on The King's influence
Cailee Spaeny had the story of Elvis Presley in her blood. The 25-year-old star features as the King of Rock and Roll's ex-wife Priscilla Presley in the biopic 'Priscilla' and explained how the music icon had an impact on her life from childhood.Cailee told Empire magazine: "I'm from the Southern Midwest. My mom was an Elvis memorabilia collector. We were raised on Elvis – and I obviously knew Priscilla and Elvis go hand-in-hand."Despite her knowledge of Elvis, Cailee had little idea about Priscilla's remarkable life and was heavily reliant on her 1985 memoir 'Elvis and Me' – which Sofia Coppola's movie is based on.The 'On the Basis of Sex' actress explained: "I knew the iconic moments and photos, but I didn't know her story. I thought that that was sort of astonishing, that her story wasn't as well-known as it should be."Cailee...

Maren Morris
Tears flow for Reba McEntire and Kelsea Ballerini. Maren Morris delivers a moving – and gender-bending – reading of a Glen Campbell classic. And Chris Janson runs on super octane performing one of rock’s quirkiest songs.

The Acm Honors awards show holds no suspense: The winners have already been announced. But the show, which airs Friday on CBS, is packed with emotional power and musical highs. The 11th annual show, which was taped Aug. 23 in Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, pays tribute to specific achievements in country music, and a stellar lineup has shown up for the celebration.

The salute to McEntire...

Priscilla Presley Opens Guesthouse at Graceland: 'Elvis Wouldn’t Have Wanted a Hotel Full of his Picture'
Priscilla Presley in Y a-t-il un flic pour sauver la reine ? (1988)
The king is back, in spirit anyway.

The Guesthouse at Graceland, a new 450-room hotel near Elvis’s famous Tennessee estate welcomes visitors starting Sunday. People spoke with Priscilla Presley about the new property, which she oversaw and helped design.

“We never had a guesthouse ,” Priscilla recalls of her former home. “Elvis didn’t really have any rooms for anyone to stay. The closest hotel was a Howard Johnson and, whenever we had friends over, that’s where they would stay.”

Until this week, visitors to the historic home, which opened to the public in 1982, could expect similar accommodations to those Elvis himself offered,...

Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s 50th Wedding Anniversary: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About the Nuptials
George Clooney
He was one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, an insanely handsome music and film star whose engagement to a dark-haired non-celeb resulted in a stack of headlines and a pile of broken hearts. There’s a good chance that the news made your mom grab a box of Kleenex and excuse herself from the dinner table … and no, we’re not talking about George Clooney.

We’re drifting back to May 1, 1967 when Elvis Presley married 21-year-old Priscilla Ann Beaulieu. At that time, the 32-year-old King – still several years away from a rhinestone jumpsuit – was the world’s top-earning entertainer,...

This Is Us Gives a Second Life to Tragic Forgotten ’60s Folk Musician Jackson C. Frank
Paul Simon
Jackson C. Frank’s “Blues Run the Game” serves as the emotional centerpiece of This Is Us, providing the thread running through William’s tragic tale. Making two appearances on the NBC hit series, we hear it first in a flashback as William meets Randall’s mother Laurel on a city bus, and again during his final days as he travels back to Memphis and reflects on his life as he knows it’s reaching its end. Though gut-wrenching, Frank’s tragic true story rivals any drama that Hollywood could ever hope to dream up.

He released just one album,...

Tom Hanks at an event for Il n'est jamais trop tard (2011)
28 years ago today, Tom Hanks and Penny Marshall delivered us the sweet and charming story of a 12-year-old who wished to be big. It was on June 3, 1988 that Big opened in theaters. It was the film that solidified Hanks as a major Hollywood talent and earned him his first Oscar nomination. Big is also significant for being one of the earlier success stories for a female director. It was the first feature film directed by a woman to gross over $100 million at the box office. Other notable June 3 happenings in pop culture history: • 1955: Marilyn Monroe film The Seven Year Itch opened in theaters. • 1969: Star Trek, the original series, concluded on NBC. • 1983: WarGames opened in U.S. theaters, after premiering out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. • 1987: The Untouchables opened in theaters. • 1992: During his presidential campaign, Bill Clinton played “Heartbreak Hotel” on the saxophone on The Arsenio Hall Show.

Blake Shelton's Famous Voice Chair Is Set to Make a Museum Appearance
Blake Shelton
When Blake Shelton told the folks at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to take a seat, he really meant it: The Voice coach's famous chair will soon be making a guest appearance at the Nashville museum as part of a new exhibit honoring the star, People has exclusively learned.

The exhibit opens Friday and runs through Nov. 6 – but don't worry, Blake fans. Shelton will still have a place to sit on the highly rated NBC show. It turns out the revolving chairs were made in multiples, so the exhibit will feature just one of Shelton's very limited edition chairs.

Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Marion Ross, Tom Bosley, Erin Moran, Don Most, and Anson Williams in Happy Days - Les jours heureux (1974)
Happy 40th Birthday, ‘Laverne & Shirley’!
Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Marion Ross, Tom Bosley, Erin Moran, Don Most, and Anson Williams in Happy Days - Les jours heureux (1974)
40 years ago today, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams schlemiel-schlamazeled their way into TV history when “Laverne & Shirley” premiered on ABC. Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, two roommates who worked as bottle-cappers in Milwaukee, had made their debut on “Happy Days” the November before their own spin-off started airing on January 27, 1976. The zany antics of “Laverne & Shirley” quickly shot to No. 1 in the ratings, even surpassing the viewership of “Happy Days.” Williams departed the show after she became pregnant with her first child. As to why she left instead of scheduling around the birth of her baby, Williams has said, “When it came time for me to sign my contract for that season, they had me working on my due date to have my baby. And I said, ‘You know, I can't sign this.’ And it went back and forth and back and forth and it just never got worked out.

How Chevy Chase's Dickish Behavior Turned Home Alone Into a Christmas Classic
If Chevy Chase wasn't such a jerk to director Chris Columbus, the 1990 Christmas movie Home Alone might not have become the beloved holiday classic we fondly look back on now. The film is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Chicago Magazine put together an oral history that revealed a fascinating what-if scenario for its director.

Writer/producer John Hughes asked Columbus, fresh off the abysmal box office performance of a previous movie, if he wanted to direct National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, which Hughes wrote. Columbus recounts the story:

In 1989, I directed Heartbreak Hotel, and it was a disaster. It opened on a Friday, and by Wednesday it was only playing at two o’clock in the afternoon. Around that time, John Hughes sent me the script for Christmas Vacation. I love Christmas, so to do a Christmas comedy had been a dream. I went out to dinner with Chevy Chase [the movie’s star]. To be completely honest,...
