South Parks early seasons really wouldve benefitted from not being politically motivated.

Like the flag episode from the earlier season, this episode is servicable on its own, but the whole contrived point that "We should exclude gay people because freedom" that not only contradicts itself (there is no freedom if your freedom is restricted by innate things), but its also very cringey and hard to watch.

    South Park challenging homophobia

This episode does a great job at satirizing homophobia, the new Boy Scouts leader; Big Gay Al is a stereotypical gay man, his name even calls him gay, the parents of South Park feel uncomfortable with a gay man watching their kids, even accusing him of being a predator. They get him kicked out, only to get a new traditionally masculine coach that turns out to be an actual pedophile. The episode does a great job at criticizing homophobia by pointing out that just because they are clearly gay does not make them a predator and just because it's not clear does not mean they aren't.

    Such a great call back!

The actual Cripple Fight is nearly a shot-for-shot remake of the famous fight scene in John Carpenter's "They Live" between Roddy Piper and Keith David, which makes it even more funny!

One of the best episodes ever.

If you are a huge south park fan, you need to watch this episode. Everyone needs to see this episode. Jimmy is one of south parks best characters. From beginning to the end, the episode is extremely funny.

"Attention shoppers...in the parking lot...Cripple fight..."

The summary line comes from a line Cartman delivers to a crowded shopping center. It's the climax scene of this ep where South Parks resident disabled hero, the wonderful Timmy, faces stiff competition from the new disabled kid,a palsied comedian named Jimmy. Meanwhile, the scouts--for which all the boys including the two just mentioned--gets a shake-up when Big Gay Al is no longer allowed to head the scouts because he's--SURPRISE!--gay. His replacement,a Mr.Slippyfist(really)turns out to be something worse, much to the too-late-chagrin of the parents. The resulting re-verb furor over the discrimination rounds out the episode, and the overall result is blissful comedy. While the politics of this show has a scrambled yet slightly Republicna feel to it(and really, not too many of these dhows DIDN'T have that),it should still please most viewers of "South Park",maybe even winning over a few converts. Just one of the MANY great eps, much of them from a five year period(1999-03)where the show was at its most purely creative IMHO. Worth TiVo-ing,for sure.

When Eric Cartman runs around town yelling "CRIPPLE FIGHT!" he runs into a church, and the Broflovski's (excluding Kyle and Ike) can be seen on the far left side of the church, despite the fact that they are Jewish, not Catholic.

Cartman: Yeah, we learned how to make cakes and muffins for our bake sale!

Stan: And best of all we met this kid named Jimmy. He's disabled but he doesn't let it ruin his life - he's awsome!

      Timmy: Aaaggghhh!

Cartman: Yeah, we're gonna use him to help raise money at our bake sales.

Stan: Cartman, don't say use him you big silly goose.

Randy Marsh: Son! You call your friend an asshole like a normal boy!

Randy Marsh: What did you say?

      [slamming the brakes]

Stan: I just... called Cartman a name; he's a silly goose.

      Stuart McCormick: Ah huh.

Randy Marsh: You do not say 'big silly goose'! You call him an asshole like a normal kid!

Stan: But, dad, I was just trying to...

Randy Marsh: You call your friend an asshole this instant!

      Stan: Asshole.

      [to Eric]

      Randy Marsh: That's better.
