Mystery Science Theater 3000: Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues (1999)

Charles B. Pearce created one of the biggest drive-in hits with THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK and followed it up with the cult favorite THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN but sadly he went on to make another Boggy Creek film and then the film under review here. The MST3K gang got a hold of BOGGY CREEK II: AND THE LEGEND CONTINUES, which certainly deserves the ripping as it's quite bad (and it wasn't even the second film in the series!).

If you're a fan of the show then there's no doubt that you'll love this episode but even if you're lukewarm on the show like I am, it's almost impossible not to enjoy what you get here. Perhaps it's because I'm from Kentucky but I loved all the jokes about the backwood rednecks and especially the sequence in the film dealing with he groceries and payment. There are some hilarious jokes told here but the highlight has to be the jokes told when the Bigfoot creature jumps on one man's back.

The Shout Factory DVD release has stereo channels flipped and a very weak left (what was originally right) channel. The original Rhino DVD has correct audio, although it is missing a few seconds (at about 61 minutes), losing the joke that the jeep winch is making "blueberry vermicelli".
