The Long, Long Day

Assigned to provide safe escort for a witness to a Mafia murder, the Baron is caught in a standoff with the killers in a lonely Italian hilltop village.

The Baron is similar to the Saint, very English in its style,but what makes it unique is that the hero - Mannering - is an American. Steve Forrest plays him, though he lacks the charm of the Saint ( Roger Moore), he still has a likebility and he's little more hard boiled. He is assisted by Sue Lloyd as his sidekick.

The baron finds himself in hot bother once again when he is asked to escort a witness to the murder of her sister - the mafia man and his brother, who had killed the girl, are going to try an stop him. The villains are fairly vicious and horrid, which ups the tension in this decent episode. It's located in a small Italian village - there's plenty of action towards the end.

The closing credits give Guardi's forename as Vittoria. This is the feminine version of the name; the masculine is Vittorio (which is how the character is referred to in dialogue and on his office nameplate).
