The Sex Spa

Some people's expectations might be just a bit high in regards to this film but is it really a stretch to say that you might need to understand that a movie called SEX SPA is mostly filled with sexy, gorgeous women who are often naked and ... yes, having sex ... in strangely enough, in a spa setting - what else were you expecting? Yes, there's not a lot of plot - sexy gorgeous women arrive at a spa looking for, finding and partaking in sex with the attendants and with each other. It's a classic because for the most part the women are all natural beauties - no tattoos and the sex scenes are nicely staged and filmed - you can actually see the actresses and the camera is not positioned in another room. The lighting is professional and the editing is not done by someone who thinks he gets paid by the dissolve.

Unlike Sex Spa 2 where they all seem to be hard edged tattoos silicon heavy and leathery, the women of Sex Spa are all approachable normal looking hot women - what more could you ask for except that this should be released on DVD while the less deserving Sex Spa 2 should be deleted.

There are very few females in the porn industry who can actually act. It's not surprising that Chloe is one of them. Far from the typical stereotype of a hardcore porn star, this thin, natural redhead with the great GM never seems to come off as the cue-card reading type. If she had made these films in the Golden Era, she would have been a huge star.

The Sex Spa has Chloe playing Det. Emma Ridgeway. The story has a deranged killer who has murdered a prominent woman (Monique Alexander) who frequented the services of a spa. So, Ridgeway and her partner Daniel Stewart (Dale DaBone) investigate the spa and its seamy, steamy underbelly. The story is actually pretty good and has depth, not unlike the usual whodunits? and Kobe-style marital affairs.

Of course, some great massage and loving scenes occur and seeing the likes of Chloe, Dru Berrymore and Monique Alexander on my screen is great eye candy. I especially like the how Frank (David Christensen) and his female clients called the sex after the massage "Happy Endings". Wish I could find a female masseuse who could offer the same around here. Thailand perhaps? This is a regular film on Sex T.V.'s Baby Blue Movies series so if you live in Canada and have the network, you'll be able to see this decent film.

This softcore cop thriller made for late-night cable tv is a poorly made bore, hiring porn stars like Chloe, Dale DaBone and Dru Berrymore to walk through nothing roles and simulate sex.

They have all given quality performances in many XXX movies, but are hamstrung by this TV format. Chloe was famous for her skills at deep throat and anal sex, neither of which are permissible here.

Lousy script makes the familiar error of calling DaBone and other massage specialists "masseuses" instead of masseurs, and other than full nudity the massage porn scenes are timid. Murder mystery plods along as lead cop Chloe coincidentally needs massage therapy herself as she investigates murders centering on a spa/brothel, and the guilty party turns out to be one of the least likely suspects.

Fans would be advised to seek out instead some of the stars' fine uncensored work shot by hardcore labels like Adam & Eve and VCA Pictures.
