Slumlord

Slumlord is one of those movies that gets in your brain and won't let go. It tells the story of Scott Roberts, a gambler down on his luck, pursued by his bookie, Gary. Scott is forced to run and gets a job managing an apartment complex for a mysterious figure, Kalis Muhn. Scott is the typical wise-guy, with the heart of coal. He bounces perfectly off the hard-nosed Kalis Muhn.

Gwen is Scott's wife and she's not a typical housewife. She's all firecracker, doesn't take sass from anyone or anything.

Clearly, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Monroe (the writers) have graduated from the School of Tarantino when it comes to their edgy, hard-boiled style of writing.

The only really bad thing about Slumlord was that it had to end. That's the one big problem here. The end left me unfulfilled, but at the same time, I guess that's a good thing. Always leave 'em wanting more, right? I'm hoping that this isn't the last time we see Scott Roberts and Kalis Muhn on the screen. Or Gwen, of course.

This film changed my life. Well at least it made me completely crack up and yet inspired me at the same time. On top of that the quality was top notch, these guys are gifted at their craft - no doubt. The characters are intriguing and complete yet leave you wanting to know so much more. I hope they turn this into a full feature - it seems there is so many directions they could go with it..... I mean come on man sized dog graves right in the Slumlords backyard? My favorite character was "Kallis" (spelling?), the Slumlord himself in the movie... he a maniac but it seems there is more than meets the eye with him. He almost comes off like a very strange father figure to the character "Scott", who is just searching, confused, making bad decisions, and really just leading us down a windy path these guys call "Slumlord".
