Avis à la une
Once you watch the opening musical sequence you know that this is not going to be an ordinary film (whatever that is). It sets you up for the movie to come, which is comical, over-the-top, nostalgic and just a good time.
Ms. Wissoff is trying to make a point and does so beautifully with her bigger-than-life, outrageous characters and colorful, Bollywood-style design. It was like stepping back in time to the likes of I LOVE YOU ALICE B. TOKLAS -- only with music added.
I can definitely see this film gaining a cult following if enough people see it.

This is a hilarious movie, was a real treat to see. Have to recommend it to anyone that loves a good comedy or even a good laugh. Improv is always fun but it's brought to a new level here, the cast has strengths that when combined provide such a curious mixture... well you just have to see it for yourself!
It's always great to see an independent director or producer make something with real texture and feeling and this movie brings it all.
Jill is very talented and she brought in so many great characters to Creating Karma. Haven't laughed like that in years. Thanks for making it and we can't wait for the sequel! Keep shooting!

A wacky 40's style comedy with a late 60's vibe. This circular tale carries us on the journey of an uptight young exec, Karma. As she struggles with her past we watch her slowly unravel, transform and finally recreate herself only to end up where it all began. The story arc is wonderfully fresh. The performances are comically insightful and genuine. The gags are energetic and at times random. The comedy is very physical. The actors had a real workout. The "sisters" have good chemistry. New York City is as much a character as any of the actors. The movie on a tight budget reveals lots of heart and potential for future storytelling. Brava.
This wonderfully fabulous and crazy comedy is one hell of a good-time popcorn-movie. The style is similar to Waterboy, and other large, comic Adam Sandler movies. Jack Black and Austin Powers'- style movies come to mind. Larger than life; true Molieresque Comedia del'Arte in a movie format. This element makes it very classical and also very modern, and so much fun. There is a sense of in the moment improvisation that permeates the world of the film. The color is amazing and beautiful to the eye. The director has a wonderful visual sense in addition to her ability to cut to great music. A comedy about the 60 ties...maybe...but a comedy of human foibles of any era...definitely
I happened upon this flick at The Brilliant Light International Film Festival at the Raleigh Studios in LA, and am I glad I did. This a hysterical comedy, and though I'm now in LA, I will always be a New Yorker, and that makes this film so easy for me to relate to. Anyone who enjoys Woody Allen or John Waters films or any of Larry David's work, should love Creating Karma no matter where they are from.
I can't help but be impressed by the versatility of the key players, who wore several hats, writing directing and performing, with great skill. It's always great to see the veteran character actor Joe Grifasi, and the versatile Karen Lynn Gorney, of Saturday Night Fever fame. There are also some fresh new faces, who I'm sure will be heard from again!

- AnecdotesThe movie came about after director Jill Wisoff, seeking a writing/acting partner to help contribute to an original script with out of the ordinary women's parts, met Carol Lee Sirugo while they were doing extra work on a Richard Benjamin film, Marci X (2003), in Brooklyn. The script got going right away after they hit upon the idea of taking on the roles of sisters.
