review of Nerariyan CBI

The template of CBI series of movies is constant. There is a murder. There is the local police. There is the CBI. There are dummies. There is Sethurama Iyer, Chacko, and Vikram. There are many red herrings and finally Sethurama Iyer catches the culprit. In the previous three installments, the crime was just regular murder. For this new version, script writer S.N.Swamy has added a supernatural element as well.

Four years back, Anitha (Gopika) came home to Animangalam Tharavadu with her friends. That night her friends Mythili (Samvritha Sunil) is found dead below the stair case. The house had a locked pooja room, similar to the one seen in Manichitrathazhu and the girls had tried to open it. Police came to investigate and concluded that some ghost was at work. A priest, Kappra (Thilakan) was called to investigate who asks the family to sell the house as soon as possible.

All these were told to Sethurama Iyer when Anitha's fiancée Sai (Jishnu) meets him in the airport. Iyer gets interested in the case and decides to investigate with the help of Chacko (Mukesh) and Vikram (Jagathi). As the investigation proceeds, they find that Mythili had a lover, Pradip, whom none of her family members had seen. He did not even turn up on her death. Also when Mythili's parents asked CBI to investigate, they were threatened by goondas to withdraw the case.

Superb Movie

Nerariyan CBI is undoubtedly the best movie in this series after 'Oru CBI Dayarikurippu'. The suspense is maintained till the last moment. Mammootty as Sethurama Iyer is at his best in this movie. Director K.Madhu and S.N. Swamy along with megastar Mammootty, Mukesh and Jagathy requires special acknowledgment for making this series a great success. The first CBI was released when I was 7 years old. From that day onwards I'm a great fan of this CBI series. The first movie 'Oru CBI Dayarikurippu' was a trend setter. The second sequel 'Jagratha' released in 1991 was also a super hit. Then after 12 years in 2003 came the third sequel 'Sethurama Iyer CBI' and it was a smashing hit. Credits must also be given to Shyam for the background music which has become a trademark of the CBI series.

Mammootty Shines Again in Another Gripping CBI Mystery!

As a fan of Mammootty and the CBI series, Nerariyan CBI was an absolute treat! Mammootty's portrayal of Sethurama Iyer is iconic, and this movie once again showcases his brilliance as the sharp and methodical detective. The suspense and the unraveling of the mystery were gripping, keeping me at the edge of my seat throughout.

I've always loved watching Mammootty's movies, and this series holds a special place in my heart. The storytelling in Nerariyan CBI felt fresh, yet familiar, bringing back the classic elements of investigation that fans of the series adore. If you love a good mystery with top-notch performances, this movie is definitely a must-watch!
