Barbie : Fairytopia

What a great movie. Elina is one of the most relatable characters I've ever met. She is teased because she is different than the other fairies but has s friend who stand up for her. But she relizes later she has a gift to make a diffference. Overall good movie and love the message

This is a pretty great Barbie movie. The plot is well thought of, and I found it really interesting!

The story is ok it's the little details that I love like the "rainbow in her eye" and the sparkles of the wings and the makeup. I also really loved the colorful theming of each fairy. I paid attention through the whole thing and laughed at Bibbles antics. I am rewatching all the barbie movies (all 45!) and this is one of the best ones so far. Weirdly I feel I remember it but I can't remember watching it as a kid when it came out.

My only caveat was barbies arms were FREAKISHLY long in some scenes and it was silly looking/weird. But other than that no complaints.

Anyways it would be enjoyable for kids and adults. My rating is closer to a 6.5/10 but gave it an optimistic 7 since you can't do halves.

I LOVED this film as a kid! I revisited it just a few days ago, and, in some ways, it surprisingly holds up. The characters are fine, the animation is fine, everything is fine. However, I just felt like it was missing something. I feel like it's the most perfect kids movie, But I'm probably not gonna rewatch it for... 30,40 years?

In general, the Barbie movies are not held in high regard on IMDb. However, I admit I do like them. I don't consider either of them the best movies in the world, but they are sweet and charming on the whole. Fairytopia is not my favourite(I have more of a soft spot for Nutcracker, Diamond Castle and Prince and the Pauper), but it shares pretty much the same attributes that make the Barbie movies in the first place. It is not a perfect movie, with some dialogue that doesn't flow as well as it should and character designs that could've had more life and less of a plastic feel. However, the backgrounds and sceneries are very colourful, and I do like the whimsy of the music. The story, a fresh concept rather than a loose adaptation of an existing story, is cute and charming as you'd expect, and the characters while nothing exactly new are still likable. All in all, a very sweet movie. 7/10 Bethany Cox
