After Sundown

The Headless Ghost: Fun 1950s Horror Movies to Watch During Halloween
I’m a big fan of horror comedy. It’s a combination that isn’t easy to get right, but when it is done well it can be hilarious. A couple of my favorite horror comedies in recent years include The Cabin in the Woods, Tucker Dale Vs. Evil, and Hell Baby. Horror comedies have been around forever, though, and I had to include one of them in the 1950s horror movie column that I’ve been writing this month for Halloween.

The next film on my list is the 1959 film The Headless Ghost. The story follows three college students, two Americans and a girl from Denmark, who take a day trip from London to visit an old English castle called Ambrose Castle. The three students hide in the castle after it is closed to see if the legends of the ghosts they heard about were real. There they find the headless ghost.

Welcome to Willits: After Sundown (2013)
Teresa Palmer Says Welcome To Willits
Welcome to Willits: After Sundown (2013)
Alien horror thriller short Welcome To Willits: After Sundown is screening at this year’s SXSW festival in the Midnight Short competition. But it already has a bright future as director Trevor Ryan is planning a feature-length adaptation and has Teresa Palmer signed up for one of the lead roles. He probably didn’t have too much trouble securing her services, as she’s married to the short’s star, Mark Webber, who will return for the film. Welcome To Willits (it may lose the After Sundown bit for the adaptation), was written by Ryan’s brother Tim and finds Webber as Brock, a man waiting in an isolated Northern California cabin for his friend to complete a drug deal. He becomes increasingly more desperate and paranoid that aliens are heading his way to attack and abduct him again. Is he just a lunatic? Well, he is in a cabin in the woods.

Joey Mayhem and the Bomb would rather sit the investigation out, due to an impending Islanders game they want to watch, plus they're a little weary of the "cursed" dwelling. After Sundown (2006)
New Ghoultown Video in the Works
After Sundown (2006)
Hellbilly horror rockers Ghoultown have announced they're working on a "gruesomely epic" music video for the single "Drink With the Living Dead" from their hit album Life After Sundown. Their 2009 Elvira tribute song & video "Mistress of the Dark" was awesome, so we're going all tingly over the possibilities for the next one. The band revealed the first concept art for the short film, which is based on the paintings of Finnish artist Juha Vuorma. Hit the jump to get a peek and catch up on some more interesting band news... Vuorma's work has graced dozens of album covers – not just for Ghoultown's latest, but also metal heavyweights like Autopsy, Kalmah and Edge of Sanity. (You...
