The Tournament

This comedic Canadian mini-series shows you all the various types of hockey parent there are, with each at their most extreme. If you have kids in hockey, you can surely see parts of yourself in one or more of these parents.

The kids playing hockey is actually quite a minor part of the series; the parents and coaches are the main characters. Their hilarious interaction is tragic, to the point of comedy in this documentary style series.

The team looses their coach due to heart attack and must find a replacement in order to finish the season, and enter the big tournament. With a couple of parents vying for the coaches position, there's lots of bargaining, sucking up, and backstabbing.

This is one of the best shows on TV I have seen in a long time. As a college hockey player who came up through youth programs in Colorado and mass. I had a front seat to understanding what being a hockey parent really means. Back then I obviously didn't understand a lot of how these wild hockey parents would act, but after watching this show everyone will see what the lifestyle is all about. I have never laughed so hard when Barry cry's when his kid can't play on the team. This show should continue and come out on DVD for sure.

Very very funny show for hockey parents. Or parents of kids who play any sport.

This is an awesome representation of that sub-culture of North Americans that are hockey parents. I believe season 1 was filmed during the hockey lockout year to provide some relief to hockey fans. Season 2 stretched things a bit much... the story line got a little more macabre. I had the series on DVD but that was lost along the way... which is a shame, cause I've never seen this on a streaming service. By the way, don't watch the outtakes. The bleeped cussing of the little girl goalie is less humorous when they aren't bleeped...

Anyone who has ever played the game or any parent who has dragged their kids to any competitive sport will LOVE this Series, it is a riot. it is As good or better than Slap Shot. Just don't start watching on a work night! You will find yourself 5 episodes in and exhausted the next day at work. It is more about how psycho the parent are than it is about hockey, even the theme song is great. it is a little colorful for young ones, so parents be warned, I would say 12 and up. And everyone knows a Barry McConnell. There is one at every rink and he is annoying . So grab the popcorn and enjoy, you can find this on Amazon for about 14 bucks , the best entertainment money you will spend. Worth every penny.
