Avis à la une
This for me was not one of the better straight to DVD Scooby-Doo outings, it fell a bit flat and seemed far longer than it actually was. Which seeing as it was only 71 mins to start with was a concern.
This was one of my favorite Scooby Doo movies as a kid, but it's lost its enchantment as I've gotten older. This whole show is steeped in tiki culture. For a start, tikis are Maori-from New Zealand, not Hawaii. A thirty second google would have given the creators plenty of actual Hawaiian deities and entities to choose from-the volcano goddess Pele, protective 'Aumakua spirits, the huaka'i po (walking ghosts that can kill you if you see them by night)... there were options here. I know it's just a kid's show, but there's a difference between simplifying things for children and completely disregarding reality. It would be so easy to be both entertaining and respectful, so the fact that they didn't do that makes the disregard for the culture and history of the setting they chose all the more blatant. Plot wise it's a classic Scooby Doo mystery, and the adventure elements are fun. It really used to be one of my faves! It just makes me sad to see this culture that is so dear to me so needlessly diminished into coconut bra and tiki torch stereotypes.
If I had to use a phrase to sum up this movie, I would have to use better than expected. Aloha Scooby Doo was not at all bad, flawed yes, but entertaining. The animation I thought was beautiful, with wonderful exotic backgrounds and some sinister looking ones too. I thought it was very funny, especially Shaggy, voiced by the one and only Casey Kasem, who just brings a sense of vitality to the character, and it is always a delight to see. The other voice talents are also great, Adam West even makes an appearance. The music is lovely here, quite atmospheric. The characters are very likable, and I must say the WikiKiki is quite something, in a scary sort of way. I also liked the fact that Daphne's hair actually came useful for once, to point the gang north. However, the story is fairly predictable, and sometimes unevenly paced. And I did find the character of Molly a bit annoying. Overall, not a bad movie, as a matter of fact I really did like it, and I give it an 8/10. Bethany Cox
It didn't fall as flat as Cyber Chase, or Aliens, but after Loch Ness, well, it didn't even reach the bar.
Still, it had enough little jokes and hidden gags for adults to get a chuckle, especially the Gilligan thing.
But ultimately it seemed to try too hard to rob Lilo and Stitch of the Hawaiian culture without really paying it the same respect that Walt did.
Its worth a watch, but not something you should buy. Rent it.

Aloha Scooby-Doo is one of the Scooby-Doo animations produced in 2005. So, I'd say it's a bit old compared to those ones produced in 2010s. Still, I was surprised to see it's awesome quality. I'm not quite sure that they've enhanced the quality or they didn't, but based on the one I've got, the quality is so good to be the one produced in 2005. The images are sharp and yeah, it's quality is very good.
As I've said in the title, this film is concerning with surfing thing. I'm not that much into surfing, and I don't surf, but it's good to see how people are surfing and happy. And also, I like to see some Hawaii cultures. I've never seen it in any films. So, I'd say it's good to see in this one.
Moreover, I was so surprised to see it's very huge inside the volcano. Even people can live inside there. It's like a whole underground city. Thus, the creators' ideas are very cool.
That being said, there's something that is not possible. Dental floss scene. It's quite impossible that Dental Floss could hold a person. No matter Daphne's body is so light, I find it it's not possible that dental floss could hold it. So, it's entirely impossible. Furthermore, I find this film is somehow a bit boring. I was feeling sleepy during the movie. I know that Scooby-Doo films are interesting. But this one made me feel a little sleepy. I was trying not to fall asleep. So, if they have made it a bit less boring, it'd be good.
The mystery is also quite good. It's concerning with the Hawaii cultures and so, it seems to be a little difficult to guess the one who is responsible for all disturbances. But I could guess who that one is. They made it so obvious at the beginning of the film. That was a big mistake they've ever made in this film.
To say it overall, Aloha Scooby-Doo seems to be a good film to enjoy. But as for me, it's kind of boring and so predictable, so, compared to the other ones, this one is a little inferior to them. But if you're not sleepy and not thinking the other things when the film's started, you might find this one quite enjoyable.

- AnecdotesFred Jones' middle name is revealed in this movie: Herman.
- GaffesAfter the gang is chased by the Wiki-Tiki, they settle near a waterfall to talk. When Daphne first sits down, she puts both of her feet in the water. However in her next shot, she has on in the water and the other one under it, with the bottom of her bare foot almost completely facing the camera.
