Hilariously funny look at an American Dysfunctional Family

This was one of the best stand up routines I have ever seen. I put this up there with the best of Robin Williams and George Carlon stage performances. This routine was an extremely funny look at the dysfunctional life of Christopher Titus and his family. It even opens one's eyes to how most American families are dysfunctional these days and how being abnormal is normal. This routine was the basis for the TV show that was on for 2 seasons on FOX television that unfortunately was taken off of the air. I only hope that they put this Normal Rockwell is Bleeding on DVD, it would be a must have! I laughed so hard it made me fall out of my chair and gave me a headache. 10/10!

    Wonderful, Dysfunctional Shakespeare

One of the best stand-up specials I've ever seen, "Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding" is almost like a Shakespearean tragedy. Complete with stories of joyous drinking, reflection, celebration, happiness and death, Christopher Titus infuses all 90 minutes of his routine with a deep sense of human monologue.

The son of a constantly drunk father and manic-depressive mother, he basks in the fact that his family was dysfunctional, reliving every painful moment of his youth with perfect insight. It's more than comedy; it's a story of how he managed to survive.

I would recommend "Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding" to anyone interested in comedic reality over stale "airline food" comedians. Though it hasn't been released on DVD yet, I'll be one of the first to buy it when it is.

    What happened to this!?

I used to watch this often years ago, it was almost like therapy. Completely relatable and well done I'd love to watch it again, however, I can't find it anywhere! Not to stream, nor purchase on DVD. What the heck!?

Rockwell is turning over in his grave!

Let's face it, Christopher Titus is a comic genius. He started his stand-up comedy career talking about his relationship with his girlfriends and cars but what made him more successful was his dysfunctional family life. His father was a drunk womanizer who knew how to play mind games or just be manipulative. If you think Chris would have been better off with dear old mom, think again, his mother was institutionalized for paranoid schizophrenia. Anyway, his girlfriend turned wife which he is now divorced, Erin, came from an equally dysfunctional family of a drunken mother, drug-addicted siblings, etc. Chris' half-brother has been arrested for marijuana possession and his best friend is often perceived as gay by his effeminate nature and sensitivity. Anyway, Christopher Titus has brought mental illness out of the closet to the stage. He's funnier than he ever was or will be. He ends the show talking about how most families are dysfunctional and when the world comes to an end that who's watching the Lexus dealership. I can't understand why they canceled his show, it was the funniest show on television and the most relate to families today.

MUST SEE if you come from a Dysfunctional Family !

Titus is absolutely brilliant in telling what life is REALLY like growing up in a Dysfunctional household! Using his brilliant style and humor to Express what a lot of people live through. It's a CULT CLASSIC in my household !

      [about his mother]

Chris Titus: Without her I don't exist. Without her, I wouldn't be doing this for a living. Without her, in four states, it would still be legal to kill a man with a cappuccino machine. She touched a lot of lives. Diagnosed manic depressive schizophreinc. Actually, it was pretty cool as a kid, 'cause I never really knew *who* was coming to dinner. But I was pretty sure they were going to be bummed out. It used to piss my teachers off. All my permission slips had different signatures on them.

      [laughter]

Chris Titus: "Okay, Mr. Smart Ass, why don't you stand up? Who's this one supposed to be?"

      [as a whining kid]

      Chris Titus: "It's my mom."

      [laughs]

Chris Titus: "Call her. But let me listen, let me listen, let me listen! I'll bet my lunch money she's Wheezy Jefferson today."
