Exclusive: Through their recently launched production company Story House, Joe Forte and Meg LeFauve have inked an exclusive, multi-year deal with Netflix to write and direct for the streamer on the film side.
The deal, and company launch, are the culmination of a 30-year partnership in Hollywood, where Forte and LeFauve have written for such actors as Jodie Foster and Harrison Ford and for many studios, including Pixar, Fox, Netflix Animation, Warner Brothers and Paramount. Partners in life and in business, they have been writing as a team since 2020, across both film and television, for studios such as Sony, Amazon MGM Studios and A&e.
In addition to writing the Harrison Ford thriller Firewall, Forte is known for directing The Man Who Saved Ben Hur, a feature doc on assistant director Johnny Alarimo and his career built against the backdrop of Hollywood’s Golden Age, which is currently streaming on Prime Video.

As much as actor Harrison Ford has cemented his career playing fantastical protagonists — Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Dr. Richard Kimble (to a lesser extent) — the man is no stranger to stepping into the shoes of darker and grittier characters. There is 1986’s The Mosquito Coast and 2000’s What Lies Beneath, which both have him play someone evolving into a twisted and evil person by the movie’s end. More prominently though, 1982’s Blade Runner saw him play a cold and detached police officer who kills androids because of an ignorant social bias. If Ford has already proven that he could play anywhere on the character trait chart, why did he surprisingly bow out of playing private detective Scudder in 2014’s A Walk Among the Tombstones?
In an interview with Daniel Robert Epstein (writing for The Suicide Girls), Scott Frank (the director of the aforementioned movie) says that the Star Wars actor “chickened out.

It’s not hard to argue that – among Hollywood icons – Harrison Ford sits pretty close to the top of the list. First blasting onto the scene as the coolest sci-fi character of all time, Han Solo, in Star Wars, throughout his career, no actor has ever been as good at inhabiting larger-than-life characters. If he’d only played Han, his place in the pantheon of actors would be guaranteed, but in the middle of his run, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg also hired him to play Indiana Jones (as a last-minute replacement for Tom Selleck), giving him another iconic character under his belt, who – perhaps – is an even bigger pop culture icon than Han.
Throughout the eighties and nineties no one had a better run than Ford, with him alternating acclaimed dramas like Witness, The Mosquito Coast, Presumed Innocent, and more with his blockbuster fare. In 1992, he was tapped to...

Clark Gregg, even if he lives to be 100 and works until his final day as an actor, will forever be known best as Agent Coulson. The actor helped kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase 1 as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., culminating in a pivotal role in 2012's "The Avengers," one of the biggest and most important movies ever made. He even survived his death to headline seven seasons of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." More than a decade before all of that, though, he wrote one of the biggest hits of 2000.

Hollywood legend Harrison Ford has been in the acting game for nearly six decades, with his first appearance dating all the way back to 1966. Throughout the years of his impressive and all-encompassing career, he has starred in numerous iconic film franchises, including Indiana Jones and Star Wars. He has also amassed quite a collection of awards, boasting everything from a People's Choice Award to a Golden Globe. Surprisingly, Ford has not yet won an Oscar, although he was nominated for his role as John Book in Witness. While many of Ford's roles can certainly be deemed Oscar-worthy, the following film is not one of them.

Star Trek: Legacy has yet to be officially announced, but if the show does happen, it would mean Jeri Ryan would catch up with fellow Star Trek actor Michael Dorn in one specific franchise category. After appearing as part of the Star Trek: Voyager cast for the show's final four seasons, Ryan went on to reprise the role of Seven of Nine between 2020 and 2023 as part of the Star Trek: Picard cast. Should Star Trek: Legacy get the green light from Paramount, Ryan's inevitable involvement would further the legend of her character even more.

Harrison Ford shines as a villain in What Lies Beneath, showing his potential beyond heroic roles. Despite What Lies Beneath's mixed reviews, Ford's performance as the antagonist was chilling and memorable. Ford has not played a former villain since What Lies Beneath in 2000.
Over the course of his acting career, Harrison Ford has starred in numerous critically acclaimed movies and played many beloved characters, but there is one thing that has been sadly missing from his catalog. Ford's breakthrough in Hollywood came when he starred as Bob Falfa in George Lucas' American Graffiti. Although the 1973 comedy-drama certainly isn't what Ford is most known for, it helped build his relationship with Lucas. Consequently, American Grafitti was a key factor in Ford securing the role of Han Solo in Star Wars in 1977, which was when the actor truly rose to prominence.

Ever since the start of the pandemic, the discussion on “post-pandemic” has been ongoing. The yearning for post-pandemic is actually a yearning for a sense of return to “normalcy”. Human beings subconsciously believe that “normal” is better than “abnormal”. However, do the concepts of “post-pandemic” and “new normal” really exist?
In this global public health crisis, the “abnormal” strategy of performing arts and cultural exchange is to virtualize live performances and move cultural exchange and international collaboration online. In the past three years, although live performing art has not yet reached a state of collapse, its nature of real-liveness and sense of collectivity have been subversively impacted. Harrison Ford isn't quite ready to hang up the bullwhip and dusty fedora that the legendary actor has donned for over four decades. Indiana Jones is arguably the role Ford was born to play, and his eagerness to return as the famed archaeologist in the fifth (and most likely final) entry, "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," should help to get fans excited after the lukewarm reception of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
James Mangold is taking over director duties for Indy's next adventure, and has nothing but praise regarding Ford's dedication to making "Dial of Destiny" a satisfying and fitting sendoff for one of cinema's greatest heroes. At 79 years old, Ford committed to the physicality required to pull off the demands of the part with a level of vigor that even went a tad overboard at times, according to his director. "Harrison was up for anything," Mangold told The Hollywood Reporter.

Harrison Ford is one of the most iconic and bankable movie stars of all time, but even he has had his share of flops, duds and wherever Six Days Seven Nights falls.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford touched on some of the movies that didn’t exactly fare well. And yes, he was characteristically…shall we say curt? When the interviewer asked him about one particular string of bad movies, Ford challenged him to name them–which maybe he shouldn’t have done because there are indeed plenty of lousy ones in that stretch. When they began rattling off titles–beginning with Firewall and Cowboys & Aliens–Ford cut them off, saying they were “all entered with the best of intentions.” Surely he means in this period only, as even Ford must have a hard time defending the Star Wars Holiday Special…

HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.

HBO Max has a major job on its hands to justify its approximately $15 a month subscription fee, especially given the strong competition out there from established names like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Disney Plus faced a similar challenge last year in arriving onto an already-saturated streaming marketplace, but at least had the advantage of major series like The Mandalorian to promote. While HBO Max will eventually be home to the Snyder cut of Justice League, and has some originals for its first week of availability, the big draw right now is its enormous back-catalogue of movies.

Welcome to the HBO Max era! WarnerMedia’s streaming giant arrived on May 27 and is absolutely bursting with Warner movies, TV shows, and other titles. But time waits for no man or streaming service and each new month HBO Max will be expected to bring new content to the table. Things get started in June 2020 with the first batch of HBO Max new releases.
To be clear, the majority of the original series coming to HBO Max actually belongs to HBO. Shows like I May Destroy You (June 7), Perry Mason (June 21), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (June 28) all belong to HBO…which now just happens to be a part of HBO Max. Confusing stuff, we know, but rest assured that if you have HBO Max you’ll get these shows…and if you only have HBO, you can go ahead and just get HBO Max for the same price anyway.

Robert Forster, a character actor best known for “Twin Peaks” and his Oscar-nominated performance in Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown,” has died. He was 78.
The New York native, who suffered from brain cancer, died Friday in his Los Angeles home.
Forster made his first impression on Hollywood audiences in back-to-back movies set in the Army, the first being in 1967 playing the free-spirited, birthday-suit-loving Army private Ellgee Williams in John Huston’s “Reflections in a Golden Eye,” starring Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. The next year, he played a half-breed scout in “The Stalking Moon” opposite Gregory Peck.

In the years that followed, Forster had roles in films like “The Lady in Red,” “The Black Hole,” “Delta Force” and “Peacemaker,” but it was Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” that gave his career a boost… and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Forster appeared in more than 100 films, including his latest, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, released today via Netflix.
Born in Rochester, New York, Forster, a member of Triple Nine Society, graduated from the University of Rochester and then moved to New York City, where he was quickly cast in the Broadway production Mrs. Dally Has a Lover, opposite Arlene Francis.

Chicago – There is nothing wrong with revisiting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That tattoo has made beaucoup bucks in book and film forms (both foreign language and Americanized versions), and Claire Foy taking over for Rooney Mara in the title role is seamless. So why the totally lackluster story? Is this a narrative source problem?
Rating: 2.5/5.0
The film, directed by Fede Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe”) is stylish and good looking, the performances are good and the production design works, but it devolves into style-over-substance confusion that meanders to a foregone conclusion. What began as a premise with a mysterious female computer sporting the titular tattoo – who also knows martial arts, weaponry and the chess game of staying one move ahead – has run out of steam as The Girl becomes a wrecking crew, who is invulnerable to being shot, drugged and generally beaten to a pulp. It's been seven years since David Fincher delivered his gritty, American take on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Unfortunately, a sequel never materialized, despite the fact that Sony has been dead set on turning the popular book series into a franchise. Now, they've completed their brand new attempt in the form of The Girl in the Spider's Web which brings in a new director, writer, cast and a decidedly different take on the material than what came before. The result, though unlike what preceded it, still winds up being a thrilling and arguably more crowd-pleasing effort.
The Girl in the Spider's Web, which is based on author David Lagercrantz' fourth novel in the series, centers on a man who was recently fired from a high-ranking position within the National Security Agency. He then recruits world-class hacker and all around troubled badass Lisbeth Salander to steal his program, FireWall.

First Contact Entertainment had one goal when developing “Firewall Zero Hour” for the PlayStation Vr: To make a fun, multiplayer first-person shooter in virtual reality.
And, at least played as a communicating group, it seems they’ve succeeded.
“Firewall Zero Hour” is a team-based, tactical multiplayer shooter that takes eight players, splits them into defenders and attackers and unleashes them on a small map. The game feels a bit like an old Rainbow Six title or perhaps Socom, both stripped of some of the nuance and in-game tactical briefings.
One group sets up around a briefcase, dropping a few defensive items like mines, while the other group streams through the maze-like halls of the map trying to take down the defenders so they can grab and hack the briefcase.
While the game offers several movement options, I found even playing with total control over movement using a thumb stick didn’t make me feel nauseous,...

In the era of fast computers and fast internet, how can the techno thriller cope?
This article contains a spoiler for Mission: Impossible.
There’s a moment in the midst of Brian De Palma’s terrific Mission: Impossible film – the best one of the series still for me – where Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt has fished a floppy disk out of a bin. It’s been dumped there by Jean Reno’s duplicitous character, believed it not to contain the missing half of the Noc list. The Noc list that’s the MacGuffin for the movie, that Hunt and his Imf team are trying to stop falling into the wrong hands.
As it happens, it’s an old-fashioned switcheroo that’s been done, and the disk in the bin does contain the Noc list information. And whilst I didn’t appreciate it at the time, I do wonder if Mission: Impossible sat,...

Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman can't seem to sell their Brooklyn apartment in a new trailer for 5 Flights Up.
The romantic comedy stars the pair as a couple who are trying to escape the "hipster" culture of Brooklyn, but have tremendous trouble selling their apartment.
Freeman serves as one of the producers of 5 Flights Up, which is being directed by Firewall's Richard Loncraine.
The movie has been adapted from the novel Heroic Measures by Canadian author Jill Ciment.
Starring with Keaton and Freeman are Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon, Emmy-winning Good Wife star Carrie Preston and Hedwig and the Angry Inch star Miriam Shor.
5 Flights Up opens on May 8 in the Us. No UK date has been set as yet.

Now here’s an unexpectedly charming on-screen couple: Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton. The pair star in 5 Flights Up, in which they play a married couple moving from their long-time Brooklyn apartment now that the neighborhood has slanted entirely hipster. The trouble of course is finding a buyer and finding a home that’ll suit them in their twilight years.
Sounds simple and charming enough, and with this cast, it’s plenty to attract the big senior audience that just poured out to see The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel at matinees across the country (seriously, don’t see a Meryl Streep movie at 2 Pm on a weekday. You’d think you’re seeing a midnight showing of The Hunger Games).

We don't often feature trailers for romantic dramas on GeekTyrant, but The Age of Adaline deserves mentioning for one simple reason: star Harrison Ford seems to actually give a sh*t about what he's doing in it. In recent years, Ford has leaned on his gruff persona and has - let's admit it - basically coasted through roles in films like Firewall, Cowboys & Aliens, Paranoia, Ender's Game, and Anchorman 2. (I still haven't seen 42, but I have it recorded on my DVR waiting for me to get a free two hours.) The brief glimpse we get of Ford in this trailer makes it look like the old Harrison Ford, the one from the 80s and 90s who put real power behind his performances and was just as believable as an action hero, a father, or a husband.
We haven't yet seen any of Ford's work in Star Wars: The Force Awakens,...

Next month, Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) will return to television with Fox’s 24: Live Another Day, a 12-episode update of the acclaimed espionage thriller series. Set four years after the explosive events of 24‘s eighth and final season, Live Another Day finds Jack laying low in Europe, still hounded by the CIA. When he catches wind of a planned terrorist attack in London, the former agent leaps into action, determined to prevent global chaos even as his pursuers draw closer.

One can find a quite revealing, fascinatingly candid admission by Steven Spielberg on a documentary for Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull featured on the film’s DVD release. In it, he opens proceedings by admitting that, following the end to The Last Crusade, he felt he had brought the unlikely Indy trilogy to an appropriate conclusion with a well judged shot of Harrison Ford’s erstwhile hero literally riding off into the sunset. It meant that efforts by Ford and George Lucas to revive the franchise, an ongoing struggle lasting almost all of the intervening nineteen years between Crusade and the forth in the series, were initially met with staunch refusal. Spielberg had wrapped up his fan favorite.
Considering that he moved on to Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, he seemed justified in this stance. In the 2000s, he was still rated as...

Getting people psyched up for the new 24 series, 24: Live Another Day, may strike many people as something along the lines of Coke commercials. At this point, are you really selling to anyone? We all know whether or not we’re interested in Coke.
Still, despite the idea that pulling in the completely uninitiated may be a questionable pursuit, Fox is pretty clear on the idea that it wants to make sure it doesn’t miss anyone. The new teaser doesn’t exactly give you a lot to go on, perhaps in a way similar to the idea that Coke commercials don’t exactly explain the product. But, it does at least give you the impression that it may pull off the difficult and dangerous attempt of standing next to the previous entries. I’m not absolutely convinced that this is a game we can keep playing, but the trailer looks good.

Another exciting casting for Fox’s 24 reboot Live Another Day: Michelle Fairley is joining the show in a major villainous role.
She’ll play Margo, the British widow of a notorious terrorist. This is a role that was previously filled by actress Judy Davis, who had to exit the production due for personal reasons.
Fairley is best known for HBO’s fantasy hit Game of Thrones where she played Catelyn Stark for three seasons. Last year, she had a recurring role on USA’s Suits.

Jack Bauer is back and stuff is blowing up, that’s more or less the message we’ve gathered from the four teasers for 24: Live Another Day that aired during tonight’s Super Bowl. The highly anticipated “event” series, a sequel to 24‘s eight year run on Fox, will follow a fugitive Jack Bauer sucked back into the fight against global terror while in London. Many key cast members from the series are returning, including Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane, but what trouble will they get up to? Let’s find out.
Doesn’t offer much, does it? Then again, shooting just began on the miniseries in London, so we’ll likely have to wait a bit longer to see any significant footage.

Arguably one of the biggest television events of 2014 will be the return of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in Fox’s event series, 24: Live Another Day. Fans of the show have waited patiently for 24 to receive a proper conclusion ever since season eight ended on a cliffhanger back in 2010.

Fans of 24 have been patiently waiting for the series to receive a proper conclusion ever since season 8 ended on a cliffhanger way back in 2010. For years, a big screen continuation was promised, but numerous attempts to bring Jack Bauer back to life failed again and again (everything from script issues to Kiefer Sutherland being unhappy with the amount of money Fox were offering were given as the reason why).

Production of Revelations Entertainment’s comedy Life Itself is underway in New York City starring starring Academy Award® winners Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton and Cynthia Nixon.

Odd List Simon Brew 27 Sep 2013 - 07:49
It's not always smiles behind the camera, as this list of feuding co-stars proves. I Love Trouble, indeed...
It's a fallacy that everyone gets on together on a movie set. Just as in an everyday office, some people get on better with others. That's as you might expect. But when it comes to film, occasionally a disagreement between two stars becomes oh-so-apparent to pretty much anyone in the stalls at their local Odeon.
This isn't designed by any measure to be a definitive list (yep, Swayze and Jennifer Grey weren't best chums making Dirty Dancing), but here are some of the more interesting examples of where co-stars simply didn't get on...
Nick Nolte & Julia Roberts I Love Trouble
To date, we struggle to think of a more bizarre screen combination for a romantic blockbuster than that of I Love Trouble. The movie, a...

24 fan-favorite Mary Lynn Rajskub reunites with award-winning star Kiefer Sutherland when she returns to the storied franchise to reprise her iconic role as Chloe O'Brian, CTU systems analyst and Jack Bauer's (Sutherland) confidante, in the thrilling new tent-pole event series 24: Live Another Day premiering in spring 2014 on Fox.
Joining 24 in Season 3 (2003), Rajskub clocked the series' second-most episodes of any actor appearing in the series' eight-season run from 2001-2010. Day after day, the always-awkward and intelligent O'Brian was Bauer's CTU sidekick, as her tech mastery, unconventional tactics and know-it-all mentality proved critical in his heroic missions.
Here's what Mary Lynn Rajskub had to say about playing Chloe O'Brian once again.
"I am thrilled to be working with Howard (Gordon) and the writers again - and, of course, Kiefer! There's a lot more room to grow in my character...I'm going to start sharpening my computer skills now!"

Everyone loves movie trailers; we can’t get enough of them here in The City of Films. It’s an art form that stands alone from the film itself and has a remarkable power to move us. Trailers can give us chills, laughs, goose bumps and sometimes even anger us. We can’t always post them all, so here’s where we play catch up; it’s Graham’s Trailer Roundup!

Synopsis: Brent Magna must get behind the wheel and follow the orders of a mysterious man to save his kidnapped wife.
Starring: Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez
Release: August 30
Trailer Analysis: It’s sort of like Taken but in a car most of the time. I’ve never seen a movie with Gomez in it, so I can’t tell if her lifeless performance is for the role or not. Fast cars are popular and Ethen Hawke is on a roll,...

Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman star in the new film "Paranoia," a thriller about corporate espionage, masters of industry, Oldman's Michael Caine impersonation and suspension of disbelief (Hemsworth's character says he was born and raised in Brooklyn).
If the "Paranoia" trailer looks familiar, it is: based on the debut teaser for the film, director Robert Luketic's August release owes a large debt to any number of previous movies. Among them:
1. "Wall Street"
2. "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"
3. "Limitless"
4. "Firewall"
5. "The Ides of March"
6. "Marathon Man"
7. "Boiler Room"
8. "The Conversation"
9. "Antitrust"
10. Luketic's own "21"
On the plus side, a lot of those movies are fun! Even better, none include shots of Liam Hemsworth without a shirt. Watch the trailer for "Paranoia" above; the film is out on Aug. 16.
