Avis à la une
A small film that holds some worthy surprises. The acting was adequate and the story was clear for the most part. The treat in watching it is that this film was done on a shoestring thin budget, but comes out looking like it was made with much more money than the filmmakers had. Some of the visuals were great, and the overall quality of the film is very good. It will be interesting to see how it does at any festivals to which the film is submitted. There are flaws, but this is one of the first projects by this crew, so the future looks bright for this talented bunch. More attention to story and less worrying about visuals would be the next step to take for these filmmakers. This is worth viewing if you can get your hands on a copy.
I caught a screening of this film at the 2004 Palm Beach International Film Festival. I was beginning to worry about the future of film after seeing several horrible independent films at the fest and was about to quit when I saw the interesting poster for 'Silent Amy'. The movie was indeed a breath of fresh air. It was brilliantly shot. The direction was excellent. The acting was great and the story was *gasp* something unique and ORIGINAL! The director spoke after the screening and gave some insight to the making of the film. He seemed very passionate which I really appreciate in a film maker. I'm looking forward to the documentary on the making of 'Silent Amy' when it comes out on DVD. They also mentioned expanding it into a feature. That would definitely do well in theaters if it happens. Good luck guys!
There's much to be said about Silent Amy - But to summarize (without utilizing a thesaurus), this brilliant independent film is a veritable, bona fide masterpiece. Mikayla Perry's masterful portrayal of accursed Amy is, without a doubt, indefectible, emanating the very essence of the character in her astute silence. The film has the inevitable effect on all its viewers (Which WILL turn to fans) of leaving jaws on the floor.
Brent Boltri, writer/producer/director/editor/color correction genius/'father' of this cinematic magnum opus magisterially orchestrated the undertaking from humble beginning to glorious end. Boltri's nouveau streamlined style of visionary direction in collaboration with paradigmatic powerhouse Director of Photography Orlando Herrera's indubitably incandescent (pun intended) lighting schema creates a unique visual experience, as well as a new landmark in digital cinematography - even the all-knowing were stumped by the dead- on 'film look' achieved by the Silent Amy masterminds, whose talent can only be exceeded by their humility.
After seeing the film, I was sent on a 'Blues Brothers'-esquire "Mission from God" to meet the minds behind the masterpiece. The deities must have been on my side - the mission was successful - and I can't possibly speak enough good of these genuine stars-in-the-making. Creating 'screen gems' comes as effortlessly to them as a blink of the eye.
Bottom line - If you haven't seen Silent Amy, do so. If you have seen Silent Amy, see it again. 9/10: I'm reserving the last star for their next masterpiece.

Amazing. For what little budget these meager and attractive young filmmakers had, and what they came out with....wow. It's like starting with one piece of macaroni and somehow creating Mona Lisa. Exciting, twisting story with new surprises around every corner (especially that "foreigners" line, which was profound and magical in meaning). I look forward to 10th, 20th, and 100th anniversary collectors edition DVDs to show my kids, and their grandkids. I hope the DVD features interactive games, as that would be cool. I want sequels, sequels, sequels! I can't wait to see what this group of filmmakers can accomplish in the future (maybe a remake of all the original fairytales??) Go Silent Amy, go!

- AnecdotesThere are visual references to Tim Burton and Alfred Hitchcock throughout the film, such as Yoy's black and white striped socks and Yoy's house (modeled after the mansion in Hitchcock's Psychose (1960)) as nods from director 'Brent Boltri' to those who inspired him.
- GaffesThe camera operator's shoe is visible on top of the mattress as the birdhouse falls on Amy in the beginning of the film.
- Crédits fousEarlier versions contained a "Panavision" logo altered to say "Panasonic" as a 'digital film' joke.
