Avis à la une
Classic songs, different storyline, excellent acting, beautiful cinematography. I've seen this movie many-a-times and would never tire of it. It's clean, entertaining, and interesting. There is an unexpected twist in the movie that makes it different from your normal Indian love stories. The ending may become a bit predictable watching it today, but for the time it was made, it's excellent. The best part is the collection of songs. The famous song from it "Tu tu hai wohi" has been resung and remixed over and over by the young generations. A sweet, emotional drama made for the romantic at heart of all ages. Definitely worth a watch!

The movie is an older Bollywood film, so there is the usual excessive sentimentality; several scenes are aimed simply at making the viewer cry along with the characters on-screen. This movie also has an absurd plot detail involving plastic surgery.
That said - it's still a nice movie. The visuals are bright and appealing. The movie captures the innocence and charm of old school Indian cinema. The songs are top of the line: Tu Hai Wahi and Maine Tujhe Kabhi Kuch Kaha are classics. I could watch the music video for those songs all day. The 2 lead actresses Poonam Dhillion and Tina Mumin are both gorgeous. I love the saris that they wear throughout the film. Rishi Kapoor is a good lead.
10/10.

This is my all-time FAVOURITE movie. I don't even know how many times I've watched it... must be close to 40... This is one of those classics that stays in your heart forever. I just have to say though, until this last time when I watched it, this movie was a really serious one for me, in the sense that I could find very little wrong with it. But I really have to share some funny parts with you. First when Vicky's mother's sari gets stuck in the car door, and second during the accident, dummies were obviously used, but if you watch the driver's side VERY carefully, you'll see the head fall off when the car hits the truck. haha. but otherwise, an EXCELLENT movie - you gotta see it!

- AnecdotesBeing one of the first films to use the formula of plastic surgery in it, they could employ two actresses to play the same character. Poonam Dhillon played the original character and Tina Ambani posed for the one after her face is changed due to plastic surgery. To maintain consistency in the voice of the character though, that does not change due to plastic surgery; they did not use the voice-over of either of the two actresses. Jaya Bachchan dubbed for the character throughout.
