If you have ever planned a Super Bowl party and searched for “chicken wings” or “bean dip” recipes in Google, you are not alone.
On Monday, Google released their list of top-searched Super Bowl recipes by state (and Washington, D.C.)—and the results were a mixed bag of game-day classics and, well, some oddball dishes.
Several states had “buffalo” flavors (North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin to name just a few) and “chili” (like Delaware and Missouri) on their menu. Game-day dips also topped the list of searches: Spinach-artichoke, bean, buffalo chicken, pico de gallo and even pepperoni dip (creative, South Carolina!

It seems advertisers are hell-bent on making the commercial breaks that separate fans from Mad Men and Jersey Shore the longest, most excruciating minutes of our lives. In the last year, we've suffered through Progressive's painful spokeswoman Flo squawking about insurance and awkward State Farm ads that remind us in depressing terms just how bankrupt we all are from the recession ("Our real national past-time? Saving money!").
Thankfully, The Consumerist has been keeping track. Out today are their nominations for the Worst Ads of 2010, a list of some of the most mind-blowingly stupid commercials plaguing America's airwaves. We've pulled a collection of some of the worst--head here to vote for your favorites, er, least favorites rather.
Absolute Worst Ad In America
Staples: "Wow! That's a Low Price!"
Why: Wow! That's a loud yell! About a dumb joke! And no one's actually buying anything! And hey! Now another guy is yelling!

This is what YouTube hath wrought: Everyone thinks that online video can be designed to be viral, as Food Network clearly hopes with this little ode to the veggie dip. (I must confess, though, that some of those recipes do sound yummy.) But, you know, you can’t force cheesiness... although cheesiness would be quite yummy, too, with some nachos. To balance out the bad karma that comes from helping a corporation force the viralness of their video, I give you this to go with your guacamole: a fan-made video for the song “Pico De Gallo” by Trout Fishing in America. (The Trouts? They rock. Well, they folk. But still.) Actually, I think the Trouts could have an infringement issue with some of the lyrics in “The Guacamole Song”...
