Although this game is set in the fifth season of Buffy contre les vampires (1997), Dawn Summers does not appear or is even mentioned.
Alyson Hannigan was supposed to reprise her role as Willow Rosenberg, but was unable to due to filming American Pie : Marions-les ! (2003). She was replaced with Kari Wahlgren.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was invited to reprise the role of Buffy Summers for this game, but declined because she wanted to see the script, and hadn't.
In the Movie Theater level, there are posters over the walls. These include posters for Titan A.E. (2000) and Alien, la résurrection (1997), both of which Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy, wrote screenplays for.
To coincide with the game's release, Dark Horse published a comic book that served as the prequel for this game. The story established the idea that realities were "bleeding" into each other, which also leads to an encounter with alternate reality versions of the Gorch family. The comic is also unlockable in the game.
