Avis à la une
I just got the DVD and watched the whole thing last night and loved it!!!!! Never got to see the movie when it aired on TV but I figured since Dale Midkiff was in it, it had to be good:) I was right! Katherine Heigl is very underrated as an actress. Loved her in Wish upon a Star(cute movie), and remember her from That Night and the show Roswell, but I hope to see more of her!! She was really good in this movie. I am so glad there is going to be a sequel! because the movie left me wanting to see more. I was disappointed to see the movie ended because it was so beautiful. A good family movie that you don't have to worry about sex, drugs, violence, vulgar language.........
Good job Michael Landon Jr.-your dad would be proud. It appears that you are following the legacy of your father, in producing and directing good television entertainment that can be shared by the whole family. This movie reached all kinds of emotions in me to the point that I actually felt I was a part of the movie. All the actors did excellent work in portraying their characters and their personalities. I suppose the biggest surprise to me was that the roll of Clark Davis being portrayed by Dale Midkiff of "Elvis and Me." If showed me that if the actor is really talented, he (or she) can do justice to any role, even the most unlikely or unexpected. But it is important to say that it is because each of the actors did an excellent job in portraying their characters, that this movie was so believable and memorable. The movie is of the caliber that we expect of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, even though it wasn't. I hope we can count on many more movies of this caliber because there is an audience for it....and I too, would like to see a sequel to this movie, "Love Comes Softly."
This is a wonderful movie about loss, love and faith. It has become my absolute favorite movie...for now at least. The little girl Missie is such a doll and perfect for her role.
The movie has a bit of "Little House on the Prairie" feel to it but has a lot of it's own appeal. All of my friends love this sweet movie, too. Just shows Hollywood that not all of us are into the s_x, blood and gore of most movies out there. Most of us adore the more faith-based, clean, wholesome movies.
My favorite part that makes me cry every time is when Marty is swinging on the homemade rope swing and is crying and crying over the loss of her husband...awe, just too sweet. And then when Marty walks in on Missy crying over her mothers death and confronts Marty, oh, my heart just breaks.
This is a movie that the whole family can watch together.

I needed the help of a friend to be able to see these movie, but as I heard it airs I couldn't wait until it would air in Germany. Unfortunately it can take years until movies are shown in Germany. These movie is one of these movies I could watch daily. It's wonderful and convincing played - just excellent! Reminds at the Little house in the Prairie . The story is heart warming, the pictures great and Dale Midkiff, Kathrine Heigl and Skye McCole Bartusiak do a terrific job. This movie brings up the wish, there should be more Clark Davis' in these world (thanks to a terrific Dale Midkiff). I wish there would be more movies like this on TV, I enjoyed every second!
The film is a good one as it deals with a new theme in a very serious way. The theme being that people, who have lost their mates, marry at once, to provide for surviving children and to ease their loneliness.
We saw such sociological occurrences after the Holocaust when lonely survivors in displacement camps wed within 30 days of meeting one another.
This film is a salute to the men and women of the 1880s in the west. Through hard work and relentless courage, they were able to survive the vicissitudes of nature.
No, this film is not Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman but it's an earnest attempt to bring the struggles of the period down to a very personal level.
While stunned by the tragic loss of her young husband, I found Katherine Heigl's performance here to be lacking. She needed more of a breakout in her role as the film went on. Only during the last 2 frames do we see a remote resemblance of that. Throughout the film, she seems to be just saying her lines without evoking any emotion whatsoever.
Midkiff is better here; although, there are some parts where I thought he was trying another form of Elmer Gantry.
As a whole, the film should be praised to its undertaking of difficult subject matter.

- AnecdotesKatherine Heigl had to learn how to milk a cow for her role as Marty Claridge.
- GaffesIn one scene, Clark mentions "finding something in the icebox". Although the icebox was invented in 1840, it would not have been used by pioneers like them. The icebox relied on a regular delivery of ice to function. The iceman did not cometh.
