Hurriedly completed misadventure.

Vijeta review :

A much delayed film due to Sanjay Dutt's jail term from 1994 to '96, Vijeta was a hushed up release with an almost incomplete climax. The filmmakers got Sanjay's voice dubbed by someone else (Chetan Sashital probably) and released the movie 'as is'. A song was filmed on Amrish Puri instead of Sanju Baba and the much old villain romancing Raveena Tandon on screen looked utterly ridiculous. " Sherry Main Ho Gaya Deewana" was leftover song from JP Dutta's shelved Chooriyan which was later added to this movie as the main leads were same.

Despite appearing incomplete and compromised effort, Vijeta took a fabulous start at the box office as Sanju Baba's fans flocked to the theatres. I still remember the first Saturday afternoon show at Citylight Cinema, Matunga was housefull and I purchased my ticket in black.

Anecdotes
The film was earlier titled Mera Kartavya. Due to Sanjays time in jail, the producers changed the title to be more positive. Vijeyta was chosen to show more support for Sanjay.
