Nalini and Sadhana ( Shari ) are close friends. Shari is richer and is often helping out Nalini who lives with her brother Ravi .

They meet Suresh . Both fall for him and his happy go lucky nature as their interactions grow . He works for a petrol bunk run by Thengai Srnivasan and his wife Manorama. The three are always up to pranks and pulling each others' legs .

A couple of duets later Suresh proposes to Nalini . Shari quietly retreats when she realises that Nalini and Suresh are getting married . She also gifts her friend a fully furnished house as a gift.

Vinoth is a convict who is on the run . He escapes jail and runs to Nalini's house . He holds both girls hostage . They manage to call the police just in time and he is caught thankfully .

He vows to take revenge .

He runs away from the jail again and comes in search of these girls . From here starts a cat and mouse game between him and the girls . Vinoth uses a bar dancer ( a young Disco Shanti ) for his nefarious intentions . A caring side of him comes out slowly as he is shown to be humane initially . He invokes a lot of sympathy .

Shari dies in this charade . Finally after some twists Suresh and Nalini get back to their lives and Vinod is caught .

Manorama invokes a few laughs as a kleptomaniac and a stealing magpie . Her husband Thengai makes us smile as her haggard husband . Shari and Nalini wear mostly sarees . Suresh is good at dancing and prancing around . Over all a family thriller.
