The supporting cast for this film all took pay cuts in order to be in a movie with Bob Dylan.

In Bob Dylan's first scene, where he is released from prison, he is wearing a wig. He liked it so much that he continued to wear it for various occasions, including his appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in August 2002.

Bob Dylan and Larry Charles used pseudonyms for the screenplay because of the film's title.

Charlie Sexton, who was sitting to Bob Dylan's right, is Bob's guitarist while on tour.

Filmed in just twenty days. Utilizing digital video, Larry Charles was able to shoot up to eight pages of script a day.
