    The best game ever made...

Resident Evil for the Gamecube is a remake of the original that hit the Playstation in 1996.This game is a completely different game,it is alot harder and it has alot more areas. The graphics are revolutionary, the gameplay is excellent and the control is pretty good.Resident Evil has new updated graphics that are so far the best out there, you can see every little detail on the characters' clothing, and the lighting and fire effects are amazing. This one also has better sound effects, the gun shots sound more realistic, and the zombies/enemies sound more disturbing. The game is also very interactive, for example, you can burn zombies when they're on the floor, stab them in the head, shove grenades in they're throat, and shock them. The games controlling in my opinion is the same, the control scheme is the same as the previous games, the joystick is a little to sensitive, but it cant effect your gameplay.Capcom has completely remade Resident Evil,it has some new bosses, more areas, more items, different puzzles, and I think a new gun. From What I have heard,Resident Evil has lots more replay value,it has 10 different endings, and invisible enemy mode. The best part of this game is indeed the fun factor. You can now stab zombies in the head, shock them with a tazer, and put grenades down they're throat. The blood effects are more realistic, when you shoot a zombie, the blood will go on the carpets and soak into it,and when you stomp on zombies heads, blood splatters all over the floor.Really,Resident Evil is so far the best game on the Gamecube right now. Graphics:10/10 ; Control:10/10 ; Gameplay:10/10 ; Fun factor:10/10. Resident Evil is a great game that delivers everything you could possibly want in a game.10 out of 10.

    An updated classic of excellence

The original Resident Evil for Playstation in 1996 was, and still remains classic. Now, pretty much every aspect of the old game has been updated, redone and improved into this very well-made and highly entertaining game.

The graphics are some of the best out there for GameCube, mainly because of the static camera angles (which are annoying to some, but helps keep the scare factor and dark atmosphere). Different kinds of shadows dance along the walls, water drips onto the ground, and characters move both fluidly and realistically.

The gameplay has been improved also; there is now these so-called "defense items", which can prove to be very useful in deadly situations. The controls remain mainly the same, for the better, or for the worse. There are also different types of puzzles in the game, some of which will have you thinking for a while. It's also a pretty long game. It took me about 10 hours to complete the first time through.

If you played the original Resident Evil back in '96 and are curious about this game, don't hesitate to buy it just because "you've already seen it". The experience is totally different, with plenty of new rooms added, some edited, and a plethora of all-new cutscenes and scenarios.

In conclusion, it is a very good game, including both suspense and nerve-wrecking terror all in one game. If you played the original and want to relive the adventure starring Chris and Jill, or if you simply like horror games, this is the one to buy. Several different unlockable weapons and game modes will keep you playing for a very long time.

The Best of The Resident Evil Series!!

This is by far the best of the Resident Evil series...and the best GameCube game ever made. This version blew me away when I first played it, from the stunning graphics, to the great voice acting (probally the best voice acting I've ever heard in a game). This GameCube title out does the PlayStation in every way (it's at least 75% different). I was scared have to death when I saw Lisa Trevor for the first time and learned that she can't really die. It also gives more background on the characters, like Richard...it shows what he was really capable of doing and showed how much he cared about his team, despite him being killed. And it shows more of a story between Barry and Wesker's relationship. Jill has a very good storyline (she carries more weapons and has longer and better cutscenes),but I would have to say that my favorite would have to be Chris. Speaking of the characters, they are very well detailed and look very realistic (Chris and Wesker look 10x better than they do in Code Veronica), and are probally the best character models of any game. Resident Evil Zero was a bit of a disappointment, so I would prefer this Remake over that title by far. This is why Capcom has become a legendary company, producing titles like the Street Fighter sereis (my fav fighting series, Third Strike is the best fighting game ever made), to the Vs. series. Do yourself a favor and go out and buy this gem of a game...you won't regret it!!

    A Love Letter from Capcom

I would like to point out how much I adore Capcom for giving the players a thing not many other companies have, a totally re-rendered ultimate version of the original RE, with a lot of added content.

The graphics are some of the best the Gamecube has to offer, boasting chilling life-like fog, intensely detailed backgrounds and nerve-shattering enemies. And the sound is absolutely stunning, with different sounds of footsteps for just about every surface, different howls for every enemy and very realistic sounds of thunder, that really set the mood for any horror game.

Some players might be turned off by the constant running around and little action, but that makes it all the more terrifying when the action gets going. Ammunition is low, there are never enough health kits and one is constantly pushed into narrow hallways.

RE is a tough game, with an emphasis on the "survive" part of horror games. It'll probably take you from 20-25 hours to complete, but those hours will be as nerve-wrecking, mind- shattering and tension-fueled as any other horror game on the market today.

In all, RE has the same style of gameplay as presented in the original, so the haters should stay away, but the fans are in for one heck of a thrill ride.

    Chilling, atmospheric and utterly terrifying!

Though the game has been around for years I've never taken interest in Resident Evil until recently. I got the game for dirt cheap and was surprised how good it is. I saw my cousin play the old Playstation version years ago and was unimpressed but for the Gamecube the graphics have been re-rendered to absolute lifelike perfection. The shadows, the sound, the ambiance and those thunderclaps...all highly, highly realistic. Play this with your Gamecube hooked up to your home theatre. And like me, you'll totally jump out of your skin at the scary parts (many of them).

My main hint is conserve your ammo. If you see a zombie, put it down right away (no funny stuff) and burn it. Take care of them one at a time. And if you don't burn them they will soon come back as Crimson Heads-faster, deadlier, scarier.

Much like the Myst series, Resident Evil is one of those games where you have to keep your eyes and ears open. Clues and puzzle pieces are scattered all over the place and you need to pay attention.

Don't be put off by the size of the mansion. After a short while it's easy to get your bearing and find your way through rather easily. Though I will be honest with the fact I did not understand most of the story. I have no idea what Trevor's diary from 1968 had to do with the plot and I really didn't get why Umbrella would create the T-Virus. I know there are various ways to finish and complete the game though. Especially seeing as how there are many clips during the end credits that did not happen in my game play (I did it in just over 8 hours). If you finish it in certain time frames the next one is always different somehow. I only managed to unlock a new outfit for Chris. Wow!

My only gripe is about those boring 'door opening' cut scenes. They really got on my nerves. Still, it's a chilling game that will freak you out if you play alone in the dark. Well worth the time and money.

    • Anecdotes
In this remake, there are two new enemies that weren't in the original or director's cut: Crimson Heads zombies and Lisa Trevor. Creature designer Masaki Yamanaka felt that traditional zombies were getting old, so their revival as stronger and faster Crimson Head zombies (as well as ways to prevent their resurrection) added fresh kinds of terror and gameplay elements. Lisa came about because director Shinji Mikami suggested to introduce a new type of boss enemy with a unique look and sound. The decision to connect this monster to the new Trevor subplot in the game informed much of Lisa's character and backstory.
    • Gaffes
Whenever the player is inside the mansion, a thunderstorm can be heard rumbling outside as well as flash of lightning outside the windows. However, whenever the player is outside the mansion, there is no rumble of thunder or lightning present.
