Steve Austin Wasn't Impressed By Arrow's Stephen Amell Wrestling At Summerslam
For someone who's never wrestled before, Stephen Amell did a pretty damn good job at SummerSlam last month. He clearly made an effort to look competent in the ring, got pretty beaten up, and unlike a lot of celebrity guests the WWE ropes in, he didn't make the product look like a joke (though neither did the brilliant Jon Stewart to be fair). One person who doesn't agree with that is Stone Cold Steve Austin though, and talking on his podcast this week, he made his distaste of celebrity angles like this one very clear. "I just don’t like the celebrities coming in there, the squared circle, and being able to compete at any level with the guys in the business. You’ve got to protect some of the integrity of the business. I don’t care what day and age, what year it is." That's an understandable argument,...

WWE: 10 Celebrity Guest Stars Who Should Have Wrestled
wwe.com

Celebrity involvement in wrestling is nothing new. Actors, musicians and pro athletes have been making special appearances at WWE events since the first WrestleMania in 1985. Some have appeared because they’re genuine fans, while others were only there to promote their own agendas. Then there were the celebrities who actively took part in the show, and even stepped into the ring.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell teamed with Neville to defeat Stardust and King Barrett at SummerSlam. Floyd Mayweather took on the Big Show at WrestleMania Xxiv. Lawrence Taylor wrestled Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania XI. Hell, David Arquette is a former WCW Champion!

The results are usually hit-and-miss. Amell might have had a decent showing at SummerSlam but other times we got Roddy Piper versus Mr T and an appearance by Snooki. Perhaps it’s better if the guest star stays out of the ring, like Donald Trump did at WrestleMania 23.

Les enragés (2006)
(Spoiler alert: Please do not read if you have not watched Tuesday’s finale of WWE’s “Tough Enough.”) After WWE’s biggest Superstars dominated the ring Sunday at SummerSlam, the next generation of wrestling stars were named on Tuesday’s finale of “Tough Enough” airing on USA Network. The reality TV competition came down to four finalists — Josh, Zz, Sara and Amanda — with one male and one female contestant each winning a one-year, $250,000 WWE contract. Josh Bredl of Thornton, Colorado, took the winner’s belt for the men, while Sara Lee of Hope, Michigan, was the victor among the women.

Sara Lee and Zz talk WWE Tough Enough finals
Four remain on Tough Enough with two receiving $250,000 WWE contracts live 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Sara Lee and Zamariah “Zz” Loupe hope it will be them. The fan favorites have survived because they have resonated with audiences. Their groundswell of support has grown, despite not progressing as quickly as the rest of the field. Where they lack in physical areas they have made up for in personality. Sara and Zz joined their fellow remaining cast members Josh Bredl and Amanda Saccomanno in New York City for the SummerSlam week festivities. 10 WWE Questions You Most Want Answered (Aug 22)
WWE.com

This is a huge week for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Consider that they have sold out the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for three straight nights for Nxt Takeover on Saturday, four hour SummerSlam on Sunday and then Raw on Monday. That’s very impressive and it’s not something that a lot of entertainment companies can do. A top musical act could probably do it if the prices were reasonable, but it’s not easy to draw three straight sellouts.

It’s funny how some fans complain about every little thing that WWE does, yet when you consider how much money they are going to make from three straight sellouts, they should really be praised for it more than they are.

Since there are a lot of things going on, there are also a lot of questions about what may happen at SummerSlam especially. There are rumours of some...

11 Shocks WWE Could Pull At SummerSlam
wwe

With SummerSlam being bigger than ever, WWE will also be planning major shocks. It is a four hour show this weekend, giving plenty of time for surprises. The idea is to make it “WrestleMania in August”, a headline grabbing showcase of epic proportions.

In Raw storylines, you can already see where some of the narratives could be headed. It looks like SummerSlam could be producing heel turns, shock returns, and possible title changes.

10. Stone Cold Steve Austin WWE 2K16 Tie In youtube

Stone Cold Steve Austin is the face of WWE 2K16, and the game developers like to make a splash over SummerSlam weekend. It is considered the promotional platform to grab the game some headlines.

With that in mind, perhaps 2K and WWE will do a tie-in at SummerSlam. Having Austin make an appearance on the show would make sense for all involved. It would be a pop...
