Avis à la une
My goodness, someone in the production of this film must have been an NYPD Blue fan, because Nicole Hilbig sounds and looks like Gail O'Grady. Brooklyn indeed, but more like Brooklyn Joe Beckham in comparing her accent to the Beckham's decision to name their prodigy son after the borough of New York. B A D: BAD!
This time though, the bad acting really hurts this movie. It makes Eve's Beach Party looks good. The film, about a madam who's in big trouble with the police because of her brothel, is forced to have two detectives (who are lovers, one of them is Brooklyn) to spy in her operations.
Even though again I applaud that the main women in this film are all-natural, the brutal acting just hurts. The set-ups to the philosophical discussions are non-existent and the film is just one big bore. Chloe reminded me of Nicole Gian because they both look like better versions of Julia Roberts, but that's about it. The story is a retread, too. And of course, Miss Hilbig is very nice, but the accent is awful. I guess Jennifer Jason Leigh is off the hook when it comes to annoying accents now.

Maybe a bit harsh, but I have my reasons. To be honest, there is just as much good (as good as straight to video movies get) as bad in this one.
I should learn not to judge a movie by the box cover, due to being burned a few times recently by cool looking box covers and absolute crap in the movie. I wouldn't call this movie absolute crap, but it's nothing more than your average B-Movie. Except this B-Movie stars actual porn stars, trying to break through to the other side I presume.
Let me explain my problem with this movie starting with the box cover. On the front is a woman dressed very similar to Tomb Raider's Lara Croft. The revealing clothes with black gloves, gun in holster and two grenades around her neck. Nowhere in the movie do they use, need or show a grenade or a gun. I was expecting a low budget Tomb Raider action style movie and instead I got an average low budget movie set in a brothel with zero action.
Nothing what I expected which I believe to be the purpose of the box cover.
Ranting a little, so I'll go onto my next problem, which is actually the bigger of the two. Dru Berrymore (cleverly disguised as Nicole Hilbig) is not a good actress. She's not even a bad actress. She's not an actress, but a performer in a very different type of movie. The delivery of her lines was not up to par and I don't know if it was a thick accent or what but she annoyed me every time she spoke. In my opinion, she made the movie worse and should have been recast.
Chloe, however, billed as Chloe Nichole, did make a somewhat believable brothel madame. Could it be that is because she, too, is "acting" in a very similar way to her other movies? She did have the best scenes in the movie, but quite honestly, that was still not a great performance by any means.
Overall, the movie was pretty straightforward, not many plot twists or turns. Everything pretty much goes as expected. I wasn't pulling my hair out waiting for the movie to end, but it was pretty much in the middle of the road. 5 out of 10.

I've taken another look at this film and still consider it pretty good. Chloe is one of the few hardcore stars who really can act. She appears occasionally in soft core such as "Body of Love" and "Lady Chatterly's Stories" on Showtime. I thought Nicole Hilbig did OK too with her nice body and charming accent. Too bad she's not in more films.
Thank you The FilmZone for showing this sleazy soft core sex flick at 1 a.m. I truly enjoyed it. To be honest, I expected a lot more from a sexy cast with McKayla, Dru Berrymore, and of course, the talented Chloe Nicholle (as Rebecca Carter).
The production values are truly bad mainly because of the low budget but a little more effort wouldn't harm. For example, the cinematography makes it look like a hard core porno movie. There's absolutely no effort in lightning. But let's ignore that fact because let's be honest, we watched "Pleasures of Sin" because of the high amounts of sex.
The sex factor is pretty good and offers steamy, explicit scenes. Chole Nicholle delivers the best performance of the female cast.
So my advice is , watch this movie if you are in the mood for good explicit sex or just watch it if you are a fan of Mrs. Nicholle.
Recommended only for the sex scenes; don't expect anything else.

This film rates up there with the best of late-night cable offerings. Some might harp on the questionable acting, but then, you're not watching a movie like this for a Grammy-winning performance, are you?
I think that the best reason to watch this film is "any scene with Chloe Nicholle"...but that's me. It's interesting to note that she is known for more "hardcore" roles, and yet was clearly the best actor in this picture.
As for the "soft-core" scenes...they are some of the hottest out there. If you have a couple of hours to kill at three in the morning, crank up the Digital Cable and give this film a shot.
