Very important and well made documentary on racial question and a critical history of the presence and absence of black actors/actresses and characters in Brazilian soap operas. Footage is precious, testimonies are important and analysis by filmmaker is serious. It is a key production on the many levels, layers and evolution of racism in Brazil. The examples of each stereotype and of racist narratives are números through half a century.
Joel Zito de Araújo has made a survey around Brazilian culture interlaced with History and social issues, showing the collective shame and scars of slavery and racism, while paying a beautiful tribute to some of the greatest Brazilian actors.
