Really fun game. My favorite thing is the enemies and the bosses. There all really good. The areas are fun to explore. The challenge mode is good. The pikmin are likeable but there are a few problems. The pikmin can trip and it is just annoying. pikmin can clip through bridges and die. They clip through corpses and die.
Ok. Here's the lowdown. On a vacation trip to some planet out in the vastness of space, Captain Olimar's ship is hit by a meteor and crash lands on a planet, sending 30 of his ship parts flying into random locations. His life support is only 30 day's and must find all his ships pieces in 30 day's. But he is not alone. He finds the Pikmin. Little creatures that work in teams and are commanded by him. It really infuriates me when people take 1 look at this game and say "This is so gay." or "This HAS to be the stupidest game." and don't even try it. Just as the old saying goes "You can't judge a book by it's cover" it goes the same with games. The people who have acctually played the game enjoy it. Control is simple and you soon even get a feeling for the little plant creatures that you pull out of the ground, thus making it heart sobbing when they accidentally drown or are killed in the heat of battle. This game is one that'll go down in history. There is a good chance more Pikmin games will be made, due to the fact that the creator of this game, Shigeru Miyamoto, has made sequels to all the games he has created. Just think. The next title might even be: "Return to Planet Pikmin" or something like that.
If you love strategy games, you'll love Pikmin.
Pikmin surrounds you with amazing graphics and easy-to-learn gameplay the instant you grab the controller. The pikmin are easily trained and can be told what to do without much problem (until they fall into the water and drown themselves).
Many problems are presented that Captain Olimar and his cute, hard-working pikmin will have to overcome in order to ensure the survival of our hero. Included in the problems are: large lakes, huge pikmin-eating beasts, out-of-order bridges, and huge walls that can only be passed by the use of yellow, bomb-wielding pikmin.
I've heard people complain that this game (as well as others) designed for Nintendo are "cartoony". I don't know whether this comment was made to be an insult, picking at an assumed "flaw", or a compliment, as I have heard the same people say they enjoyed Crash Bandicoot or other similar "cartoony" games. The fact is that Pikmin may be "cartoony", but this is no flaw. This adds to the humor in the game, building up the already high satisfaction levels. I don't believe that if a game looks like little children's cartoons, it is bad. Rather, let's try to stay open-minded with all games, "cartoony" and devilishly gory alike.
All in all, Pikmin is well worth your time. Think of it as a sort of humorous way of playing Jurassic Park with a twist. After all, a huge ton of your pikmin will be smashed by leaping frogs, be eaten by huge "Bulbears", be burnt by flame-throwing animals, or drown because they weren't smart enough to follow you and steer clear of the river. This all adds a stylish, unique gameplay you shouldn't miss out on.

You really have to feel this game throught the original Gamecube controller and throught the original console, because this game... is actually pretty good. The gameplay isn't too crazy, you grow your pikmin population by collecting recourses, fighting enemies and collecting your spaceship parts to repair it, it's surprisingly very addicting.
If you like simple and addicting games, I highly reccomend this game, you won't be dissapointed.
