Round robin cartoon

In the middle of the 20th Century, it was fashionable for mystery writers to write round robin novels. Ten to fifteen writers would each write one chapter, and the result was always a chaotic mess. Well, Marv Newland recruited over twenty animators to make a cartoon. Each animated one scene, and apart from the requirement that the character Foska appear at the beginning and end, content was not stipulated; indeed, none of the animators knew what the others were doing. The result will hold your interest, but the whole very definitely is not greater than the sum of the parts.

Anecdotes
The black pastor in the beginning of the cartoon is a caricature of Rogers G. DeCuir, a real-life pastor from Los Angeles.

AniJam was animated by 22 animators, each doing a separate sequence. The first drawing of each sequence, is the last drawing from the previous sequence. The animators did not know what action came before, or went after their own sequence. The animators were free to create any action that they wished, they were required to begin and end their sequence with Foska. Anijam is the responsibility of these animators. It is their fault. Here are their names.
