Hungry Hearts

wicked sensibilities, cult classic written all over it.

When a chef agrees to cater meals for a wealthy woman one week-end, he has no idea that there's more than food on this menu!

One guy, four crazy sirens, emotional twists more convoluted than braided bread. He laughed, he seduced, he panicked, he cried... he did his best to rescue each of them...and in the end he was cooked

to perfection. Brilliant writing, excellent cast.

Delectable and Delicious!

Miles La Rue, our trusty hero, shows up for his chef gig thinking it's just another big party cooking for the rich and famous.

Handsome and clever, Miles is a world renowned gourmet chef, who's as well known as his clientele. But this week's blow out will change the course of his life forever.

Miles arrives at a luxurious Beverly Hills house to cook for a dozen party goers, but only four women show up. This doesn't stop them from eating all the incredible delicacies Miles has to offer – and then some.

He wants his food to be appreciated, but this is ridiculous. The party continues and these beautiful women, all best friends in the throes of mid-life crises, keep eating with voracious appetites that go well beyond a simple need for food.

Miles slowly grows to understand: they're eating like there's no tomorrow because there literally's no tomorrow. This is their final hurrah, their last blow out. Miles tries to get out of the hectic situation, but the women know the popular chef has a secret, and are not afraid to use it against him.

Hungry Hearts is one of those fun dark comedies that overpowers your sensibilities with biting wit and hilarious insight.

Bottom line: Like a fine, smooth glass of Cabernet Sauvignon ;)

A really great dark comedy.

If you like well done dark comedies, see this film. Well written, acted and directed...and damn funny. The actors easily tackled the comedy and the drama, a rare combination, and it was great fun to see the twists and turns in the plot.

Very Funny Film

It's not every day I see a black comedy that actually makes me laugh, but "Hungry Hearts" was funny, weird and captivating at the same time. Susan Blakely is fantastic, but the whole cast contributes, especially the guy who plays the hapless hero. A good mixture of tension and comedy.

A chef is hired to cook a last meal for a group of suicidal friends.

What I expected to be a tear-jerking, maudlin exercise in feel-good polemics instead turned out to be a raunchy and witty comic film of brazen nerve and determined political incorrectness. Told from the viewpoint of a chef hired to cook the last meal for a group of women friends "of a certain age", the chef turns out to be their peculiar entree.

Wonderfully directed, extremely well-acted, it is the screenplay that is the star of the show, offering Noel Coward wit amid Edward Albee claustrophobia. Who'd have thought that suicide could be so fun?

The music is superb as well!
