Avis à la une
I thought the original Cabin by the Lake was pretty good for a TV movie; it was easy enough to get into the characters, and Judd Nelson played a psychopath very well. The change in the sequel that I liked the best was the strange interaction between Stanley and Alison, as the circumstances surrounding it make their mind games with each other seem more sensible than those between Stanley and Mallory in the original.
However, there is one little thing that nags at me throughout the whole movie: how in the world could someone on the set of a Hollywood movie not have recognized Stanley's face from somewhere? The extent of his disguise is a pair of glasses! Other than that annoyance, I was not disappointed by this sequel.

I saw Cabin by the Lake and loved it. Then I saw Return and it was a total let down. That was one movie that they should have left it with only one. If you want a good movie with a good sequel, I suggest renting Buried Alive and Buried 2. I actually like the second one of those better.
After seeing the Cabin by the lake, i was anxious to see the sequel... now I'm just glad i didn't see it first. I was quite disappointed with how a wonderful movie was slaughtered by its sequel. Stanley lost the manic appeal he held in the first movie and became a sadistic revenge driven man. The only time i really saw a hint to the original Stanley is when he is reminiscing about Kimberley's death and even then he was very different. All in all watching the sequel was a depressing expereince.
A while ago I saw Cabin By The Lake on the USA Network, and I thought it was a really cool movie, then recently I found out the sequal was being shown TONIGHT! I just finished watching it, and it was better than the first! I'm not sure wether it was a good or a bad point, but some of the camera shots seemed somewhat... amateurish... like a home movie, similar to the style used in the Blair Witch Project, shaky camera, close up, just no professional quality to it, this struck me as odd, but it gave the movie a certain feel to it. The actresses are good looking I must admit! And if I had to pick any psycho to be like I'm sure I would choose Stanley, the whole calm approach to tormenting the victims, making them aware of what is happening to them is the approach I took... er, i mean, would take if i were a serial killer ;) The whole plot of the movie was well linked, things would happen which would make you question what was happening, then further along something completely unexpected happens making you think "ahh so thats why he did that earlier". All in all it was a good movie, worth seeing if you're a horror fan, it's kinda light hearted in a way, you start to feel for Stanley, understand his character and understand what's going on, and get annoyed at various other characters and WANT Stanley to kill them! :) Go watch it! Enjoy the movie!
This movie was bad! The oringinal is waaay better. When I was watching this one quote came to mind "Sequels suck," (Randy- Scream2). IF they make a sequel to "Return to Cabin by the lake" it should at least have a plot the portrays to the first one. It should also include oringinal characters like Mallory and Boone.

- AnecdotesThe "footage" that Mike is watching in which he confronts Stanley of making changes to, is actually footage from the "underwater dummy" scene from the first film.
