The Wilde Girls

"The Wilde Girls" is about a single mom (ONJ), vet, and ex-singer with a talented 14 year old daughter (Lattanzi) and the daughter's long estranged father (Ehlers) and a kookie friend (Kurtz) and reconciliation and forgiveness and...and...and stuff. A kind of wholesome and sentimental flick with some pretty good singing and some pretty awful acting and direction and a really corny story. It's pretty difficult to pick apart a film which has ONJ singing with her kid or singing to puppies but this is, by cinematic standards, pretty awful stuff. Recommended for teen females and their moms.

This comment is for the above comments from DAVID and GEORGE. First off, I used to go anti-private investigator meetings. You know what our motto was George and David? Our motto was "Don't be a dick". Now, as for "The Wilde Girls", what were you expecting? Action and people getting shot in their heads? This is a movie with Olivia Newton John and her Daughter Chloe for God's sakes! You expect things like singing to animals and occasional mushiness! You guys, freeking shape up, cuz we don't need you men! LOL

Maybe because ONJ has been my idol since I was a little girl but I loved this movie. I was watching the ONJ This is your life show and just saw that Wilde girls even existed. It sure wasn't promoted enough 20 years ago. I think that thecasting was great and I believe the acting was first rate. Obviously, it's not an Academy Award winner, it's not meant to be but it's a fun movie!!!

This isn't a great film, I'll admit, but I have seen worse.

My only issue with this film is that Chloe Rose, the girl who plays the singer in the film, really isn't a very good singer - I find her Mariah Carey-esque warbling a bit grating. Still, she plays the part quite well and luckily there isn't too much singing.

Olivia Newton-John doesn't do herself justice in this role - but not every part can match Sandy in Grease I suppose, and she does do okay in it. I much prefer her singing to that of Chloe Rose's.

It is a bit of a generalization, but I would suggest this is a nice film to be watched by a mother and daughter - a silly, light-hearted film, semi-dramatic and quite heart-warming. Don't expect much or look at it too critically - it is only 90 minutes long and it is nice enough.

What her teenage daughter, Izzy (Chloe Lattanzi), doesn't know is that her mother was formerly a pop star. Izzy has musical ambitions of her own and, finding out the truth about her mother's past, she beings to get the courage to follow her own dreams. Olivia Newton-John and daughter Chloe Lattanzi get the opportunity to sing together in this television production.
