Rahman and Lizzy are lovers .They decide to get married after a couple of duets. He is a popular singer . Their parents accept their relation and their marriage date is set . Sadly he meets with an accident and dies . Eventually he goes to Yamaloka . He tells Yama ( Thilakan ) about his unfinished love story . He takes pity and decides to send Rahman's soul down on planet earth so that he can contact Lizy again . From here starts a comedy of errors. His soul enters an old man's body first. His relatives are waiting for him to die to get his property . A lot of realities come forward when he wakes up alive . Sadly he is not able to go near Lizzy and tell her that he is dead .

That does not work out for Rahman so he goes back to Yama . This time his soul enters Venu's body . He was a likable thief who was shot dead by the police . When Venu ( Rahman ) tries to go to Lizzy's house to tell her about his death, he is chased away by her family .

Another session of errors take place . When that too does not work out , his soul enters Mohanlal's body .

He was a CI who himself was shot dead .His pretty wife and kid Unni Mary are waiting for him . Mohanlal ( Raman ) tries his best to go to Lizzy and explain the situation. Unni Mary is not aware that he is dead . He sees that the marriage preps are going on in Lizzy's house and hesitates to tell the truth .

The entire family is in a joyful mood.

Unable to tell about his death he brings Rahman's body in his police van to her house without a word . He is still in his police uniform . The family now understands what has happened and accept reality .

Slowly in the final scene Mohanlal moves away and Rahman leaves his body . Mohanlal's body is found and his family and his colleagues now understand that he too is dead . All the actors are cute and likable in this movie . Though the formula is about dark death , it makes us smile on many occasions . A total family fare.

Pappan Priyapetta Pappan (Pappan Oh Dear Pappan) was far ahead of its time, telling a story of a youth taken to heaven prematurely and thus trying to spend his actual remaining week in recently-dead bodies. It's a fantastic story (although inspired) and its treatment is palpable. Rahman is this peppy young singer and it's great to see him loosen up here, along with short arcs enacted by Nedumudi Venu, Bahadoor, and Mohanlal. The finale is tear-jerking as you would expect and more than the humour, this film is introspective in nature. What would you do if you just had a week to live? Although Pappan Priyapeeta Pappan takes a different angle than this, it's worth every minute. Go for it.
