Avis à la une
Double Teamed is the true story of two twins named Heather(Poppi Monroe) and Heidi Burge(Annie McElwain) who became basketball players. I think Poppi and Annie did an excellent job portraying the twin sisters. This is one of those disney movies that actually make you think that you can achieve your dreams and become anything you want to be, regardless of the people that stand in your way. I think Double Teamed is a great movie and i've seen it every time it was on televison. I would give Double Teamed 8.5/10
This movie is a joke. Why is it that the coaches only starts hauling in the tall players with no talent from the beginning to join their team and never gives a chance to the average height players that has some talent from the start? I swear the Asian coach in the movie looks exactly like my high school basketball coach. The way he speaks too. And how he only takes tall players during try outs (damn the coach at my school, everyone said I did good in tryouts and everybody thought I made the team but nooo!!) Anyways what kind of coach is the guy in the movie? All he does is say "Pass it to the tall girl, Keep it up girls, blah blah blah". And like I said this movie is a joke. How is it during the championship game where the opponent's coach gets a technical their team shoots 2 free throws and gets the ball?! Since when did they start shooting 2 free throws on a technical?! Why is this director directing a basketball movie if he doesn't know the basic rules. And give me a break, you can't just bring in an injured player on your roster during the middle of the game. Though I did have a good time laughing at the lameness of this movie, like this one scene in the beginning where Heather(I think) started shooting and making all her shots and everyone was going "WOW!" and looked at her in amazement but WE(the viewers) see her only like 1 feet away from the basketball! What's so amazing about that?! It's only amazing if that dog Air Bud makes it from that close. And who shoots a 3 pointer after stealing the ball on a fastbreak?! Yeah yeah it's just a simple family movie but c'mon at least make it a little more realistic. This movie is awful. The message here is these girls did not find their talent on their own as they were forced to join the basketball team. What if they were 2 average height girls? The coaches wouldn't ask them to try out for basketball, they wouldn't be signing autographs in the WNBA today. Or at least this is what the movie is saying to me on my point of view.
Sure some may think this is a sweet movie but this was too corny for me. If you want to see a good Disney Channel Original Movie then check out Brink! That was a cool movie.

Its great to see a movie about female athletes to show that girls in sports should be taken seriously. Other than that, there is little in this film that should be taken seriously. Even for the Disney channel this movie had amazingly bad acting. I felt like I was watching a high school play at some points.
The problem with this movie is that the sisters - supposedly twins - look NOTHING alike.
The film is based on the true-life-story of WNBA stars Heather and Heidi Burge, who overcame sexism etc. to accomplish their goal of being basketball players.
The film is okay, and I'm more than pleased that family films can stick to the old formula - no swearing, violence, sex, etc., but a good-natured family film with values - but the film itself is poorly written and acted.
It's good that films like these can still be made, but the problem lies with (a) bad directors, (b) bad scripts, (c) bad actors, and (d) low budgets that would make "The Blair Witch Project" blush.
The fact that Disney will not release films like these into theaters tells us something: they are either too ashamed to release something with actual TASTE, or they are serving to a new generation, THAT THEY CREATED, plain and simple.
Family films used to be good, but since Disney started making "babysitter" films off of classics (i.e. "The Jungle Book 2," "101 Dalmations 2," et cetera...), kids have gotten used to minimum entertainment. They no longer realize what quality films are because CORPORATIONS LIKE DISNEY TAUGHT THEM TO NOT KNOW ANY BETTER. They accept lousy movies because they have been taught to.
Perhaps some day we will see a change, but all I see is continual downfall.
This is the reason I praise movies like "Toy Story" so much - they can stick to the old-fashioned way of entertainment: quality.
As for "Double Teamed"...unfortunately, despite some good qualities, the film just doesn't make it to a high level...

This movie was awesome! Heather and Heidi did look like twins so the people who said they didn't are just a bunch of morons! I loved the plot the two twins Heather and Heidi were nothing like each other! It made the movie a lot more interesting! Heidi wanted to be in a school play but her dad made her try out for the basketball team! Heidi and Heather's dad appologized about it later. During the beginning of the movie, Heidi and Heather have to transfer schools and move into an apartment building Sandy Shores, the popular guy in school lives there too! Nicky Williams was their enemy in the beginning because she wasn't the star of the basketball team anymore but when they started chatting at the airport, they became friends! At the ending, Heidi got double teamed and Heather put on her uniform and went in the game. Heidi made the winning shot. Both went to the WNBA Heidi went to the Sparks and Heather went to the Monarchs! Thats where it ended

- AnecdotesPoppi Monroe and Annie McElwain both had to wear padding in their shoes to make them appear much taller than everyone else.
- GaffesAt the end of the movie they were playing against each other in the WNBA. In fact, Heidi played in the WNBA in 1997 with the LA Sparks and 1998 with the Washington Mystics, and Heather played in the WBA for the Sacramento Monarchs in 1999. They were never in the league at the same time.
